The crazy depth of field provides some great contrast- pretty good shot in general though i think this technique could have been applied to a more interesting object (s) to result in a more interesting product. I dig the grains in the metal.

I love the "cool" blue hue that the shot AND the smoothness of the rails. It makes it a soothing shot to me. I really enjoyed staring at this photo for about 5 minutes. Everything that I was worrying about just seemed to be lost while gazing.

Amazing work! :fav:

First of all, congrats on the DD, Adam. I think this shot really does deserve it. It's so nice in so many ways. It's a great shot, and something I didn't really expect to see from you, which is pretty cool. Even though the shot is simple and it's a subject that you wouldn't normally see, it would probably be one of my favourites by you for the simple fact that it is simple and different.

I got to comment on the focus. I know some people are going to look at this and not enjoy the focus so much. The focus on my Cars in Colour is a little similar in a sense that the background is almost blurred beyond recognition and for some reason people don't enjoy that so much because everything melts. I myself quite enjoy this type of focusing. I think if somebody else were going to take a similar shot, they would have tried to focus more of the handrails into the shot, where as you've just focussed on the more foreseen railing. In a sense, it makes it minimal.

The colour is nice. The blue-steel-chrome toning is beaut. I think the only thing that really does distract me about this shot is on the handrail, there is that dark spot on it, which I suspect is a bit of the handrail worn away or something. It just seems unnatural to the shot and annoying. Reminds me of a fly. But that's just my opinion, which will most definately differ from yours or anybody elses.

Anyway, wonderful photography as always, Adam. I can't wait to see what else you have to share with us in the future.

i love the focus on this. this is the kind of photography that seems... so myopic, yet so purposeful.

Damn fine work. Take a good eye to see a picture like this in ordinary every day objects. It's so crisp and clean. In fact, it's so smooth that it leads me to one tiny thing that i personally might have changed a bit. On the bottom, inside part of the first loop, there's a black spot. Everything else is so smooth that the tiny little dot actually brings my eye to it because it breaks the flow a bit. But that's very nit-picky of me and i wouldn't even have noticed it if the rest of the shot wasn't so damn fine. It's just a quick PS edit away from being perfect. Congrats on the DD, it's a very deserving piece

Beautiful shallow depth of field shot, its elegant simplicity is amazing. I love the metallic and icy (the noise almost makes it snowy) feel it has.

Only thing I'd say is it might have been more interesting if the focus was on the second rail rather then the first, I think that would have created more contrast between the perfect cold steel and the soft and snowy rails, and also led our eye more into the picture; helped us follow that beautiful gentle fading.

I love the smooth, sleek curve of the metal. It looks so chilly, ice cold with it's blue tones and bright shine facing us.
The focus is too cool. It really makes the first one jump right out of the shot at us, while the rest going farther back into the shot just blurr into a nice backdrop.

Firstly congrats on the DD Adam

Now I just LOVE the angle of this shot. It's a perspective that I think so many people would just pass right on by during their day. From this I'm seeing like business people on their way to work, just walking on through, their minds in a completely different place.

The detail you've managed to capture in this shot is amazing. The scratches and imperfections on the handrail draw the eyes in, in my case anyway, just following them around. Makes you wonder what they've been through

Love the shot Adam, once again congratulations on the DD

Actually, I have to this. It means a lot to me...

I know you're probably thinking how weird it is for a bunch of handrails to mean so much to me, but they do.

Whenever I try my hand at photography, I always like to do photo's in this type style. But I can't do it very well.

These handrails are actually very important to me. I remember walking up those stairs on the best night of my life....

:sigh:

Yep, the best night of my life..

you know, when I saw this as a thumbnail at first glance I thought it was a Bryce render it's quite interesting and I would have never thought it was handrails you chose a very cool angle to shoot this. and not to mention the focus - I love how they fade. I really don't think it would be the same if everything was in focus, so good job on that nice tone as well, compliments the shot. looking at this, it has an abstract like quality. good work
