Description Some people's faces are quite readable, but for some... not that much.

Aftershock is my OC.

Without expressions doesn’t mean he doesn’t have them, he just shows it differently

Hello, realism department? Yes, I would like to file a claim.Β  Β  Dude, you keep summoning me with stuff like this. Am I ever gonna finish my project??Β  Β Β Ah well, if it's for a constructive comment then it should be ok.

Let me say, I like the rim lighting on the left shoulder, very cool! It's kinda interesting that he's being lit from both the right side and the back. And, if I'm seeing it right, I think you're using a flat brush, too! Yeah! Flat brush gang gang!! Flat brushes are great because they have these recognizable brushstrokes. Round brushes don't look as painterly, or at least, to me.Β  Like, with a flat brush you can see how the subject is made up of all these marks to become something else that you can recognize. I don't know how to really explain it, but yeah. Flat brush nationalism!Β  Β

I also like your color choices, too. Like the light orange on the warm gray as a highlight? Very good decision! Dude, I remember when you told me you couldn't render metal. Now look at you! What's that? It's progress! Yeah!!Β  Β Β  And the purples as shadows, too! That cool and warm color contrast!Β  Β  Perfection.Β Nice use of reds, too, like on the ears and the like, it makes him feel more alive. I used to make the mistake of not using reds, and all my people looked like vampires. Lol. But anyway, the limited color palette of red, orange, and purple was a good choice. It really makes the whole picture feel harmonious. Often people use too many colors, which looks rather jarring if you don't know how to really use them. The hair looks realistic, too. I think it was a good choice not to paint it, because it definitely stands out more.

Shape-wise, this is great! I'm going to bring up that rim lit shape on his shoulder again, because it's really the perfect example of why paintings are awesome. The viewer knows it's a shape, but at the same time it's not! Really cool! I think Marco Bucci would be proud. I know it's kinda hard to explain, but if you watch this playlist you'll know what I'm talking about:Β  www.youtube.com/playlist?list=… This is what actually got me into painting to begin with. I drew that Crusader Gavin picture right after I watched all of these. Life-changer! Anyway, this is definitely one of your best pieces, on an artistic level. Keep it up mate!

I, for one, am not disappointed that he can't make the uwu face, that's kinda cursed. But in a good way, of course. I do think it's funny that you keep drawing him without his armor, though xD
Β

Aww yeah, it's ms paint library hours once again. Mouse users, rise up!

Β Ehehe, thanks for the kind comment! I'm just bringing back my old art style because I kinda missed painting, but I kept the unrealistic Yecow style face features, like the odd eye shapes and sizes. I heavily used flat brushes before too because I like the texture you can create with it. Ahehe yes, you know me, I love my big strong men blushing, they're cuter that way. That's why I always use red on some parts.Β

I love that little comic! It's hilarious!!! I actually made part 2
Β

Mspaint is still alive? Ahaha, that's classic! My first ever digital drawing program. Brings back memories!

Hax-Dev In reply to Yecow [2020-01-26 20:39:05 +0000 UTC]

Yo, same! It was my first drawing program, too! Fun stuff. There's a new version of it now, but it's pretty much the same program. And I knew it, those flat brushstrokes! I can spot them from a mile away. It's amazing what you can do with a flat brush. They're not only good for making texture, but also for filling large areas. Multipurpose, and effective!

Hmm, yeah. I do like your old style, and your new one, too. But I think I'm a little biased towards the old one because that's the period when I saw your art for the first time. I dunno, maybe it's a special connection or something. Hmm, that special feeling....

Β

Really, you liked my dumb comic? Hey, that's kinda cool! Glad it was legible, at the very least. I really need to do something about my handwriting...

Yeah! Awesome! It kept me well entertained back in the days, I miss hunting those uncoloured pixels one by one after using the bucket tool.

Ahaha, do you? My old art is filled with laziness!! Well, same as the new one, I guess.

And yeah, its still readable, I just need to squint so hard to understand what it says.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Hax-Dev In reply to Yecow [2020-01-28 04:27:17 +0000 UTC]

I agree, same as the new one! Β Β Nah, just kidding. I don't think this one's lazy at all. Honestly, none of your art's lazy in the traditional sense. What gets me is the lack of experimentation! Try something different! I mean, I think your people (and animals, and mechs) are awesome. But the backgrounds, dude! THE BACKGROUNDS! Draw one!! It's driving me nuts! Get this tan outta here! The characters are super interesting, but we know nearly nothing about the world they live in!

Wait, you have to squint to read it? Uh oh, maybe it's time to get glasses, old man! Unless you're wearing them already, then I can't say much. But use the zoom tool! The ZOOM! C'mon, even you have to know about that!Β  Β
