Love the background. It doesnt reaches the entire character wich gives the fire a great effect. nice!

I'm not a big fan of that transparent background. I think it'd look clean as hell with a solid black background. Generally speaking, I think you abuse the use of transparent backgrounds too much in you pieces. It makes them feel slightly hollowed out, not delivering any real oomph. I think you need to stop thinking t-shirt design and start thinking artwork. Let's say you were to print this piece and put it in an art exhibit. Would you cut around the edges of the character like that and just stick it to the wall?

That being said, I think this new high-contrast, caustic coloring style looks BAD. ASS.

so a piece of art must always be defined by a rectangle and kept inside those limits? i don't do it for t-shirt design i do it to define what the art is, if I want to exceed the rectangle I should. I want the art to be defined by the actual image and allowing that image to be it's own border.

btw thank ou

No no, I didn't say that. Experimenting with different formats is always refreshing, but you have to be mindful of your surroundings. Art needs to catch your eye and challenge your senses.

I just think that a clean, solid black background would really accentuate and add intensity to the blue colors in this pic. The pale, greenish gray of DeviantART does nothing but detract from the intensity and infects the piece with it's blandness..
