Wow, this took me AGES to finish off!I drew this picture on paper quite a while ago, so I decided to draw it on the computer the other day-- and it's taken me a least 3-4 days to complete.
I did a little bit each day after school for a couple of hours (so it would had taken roughly 6-8 hours in total).
I guess the time paid off as I'm pleased with it, but there could be improvements (I'm still working on Clank's surface area, e.g. the metal. I'm still trying out Ratchet's fur texture, but I think it's improved a bit).
I properly could have spent much longer on Clank and made his eye a bit smaller. But I guess this is okay for someone who can't draw Clank
The shading isn't perfect because I wasn't looking at the reference photo for this, but when I looked at it, I realised I got the shading slightly wrong (especially on Clank). Whoops...
Please tell me what's good and/or bad about this in a comment. And/or what I could improve on

Edit: I made Ratchet's fur lighter where it was really dark and also made it lighter on top of his mouth.

I use the "Burn Tool" to make dark lines, and then use the "Dodge Tool" over the top to make light lines.
I'm not very good at explaining things, so I hope this helps

Very good job here! Nice fur effects and shading. Maybe the eyes are looking a bit odd but it's fine.

Thanks! Yeah, I agree; I tried to make the eyes 'fit in' with the all the other detail that is going on in the drawing, but I guess this was mainly for detail practise

cool! Good job there! lower the contrast and youre good to go! Looks very good tis far. I think i have to try making fur textures on PC. So i can try some stuff out on my own. I will perhabs need it for my 3D-model project i'm doing. Who knows

Yeah, I thought I made Ratchet's fur too dark but then it didn't look right too light and the such. Might edit it later. I find it really easy to do fur texture, it's just getting it right

On the second look, i'd say that you probably started with one brightness of the color and only turned it darker on every "stroke layer". I'd try to VARIATE between dark and light colour tones. It will be difficult for me to try it out, because i havent got a drawing pad (or how ever they're called.) I'm not sure if I should buy one. I don't know if it's worth it, but it also is a goot tool to work with 3D. (and i know where i can get Photoshop) I i think the risk is there that i can get addicted to my PC, drawing and edit stuff there.

The darkness level looked okay at first, but when I added the shading it just got darker. But without the shading it looked a little...flat, but I could properly knock down the dark tones a bit (I'll do that tomorrow or something though).
I don't have a drawing tablet...thing, either, I just use my computer mouse. Well, I do have a drawing tablet but it's for the PS3 and it's not brilliant.
My dad got Photoshop at a low price somehow, but he can't remember how -_- I would like to get the Photoshop Animation programme too, because it seems interesting.

*googleΒ ps3 drawing tablet* ah I probably saw one a loooooong time ago in a shop. I would never think of that you seriously drew those drawings by mouse! they look like the ones on paper! I always scanned the sketch and used the "curves" tool.

Yeah, I got it for Christmas last year I think, but I've only used it once.
I do. I've gotten use to using it, so it's quite easy for me to draw on the computer. But I always sketch it out on paper first and then finish it off on the computer, like the outline and colour + shading and so on.
