Description So my brother presented me an idea that a friend of his proposed to him. What would a hybrid between a koala, a panda and a kangaroo look like? And for what good would it bring to us? Basically this muesli of creatures comes with an intent of mixing the benefitial attributes of these three animals into one consistent creature. Therefore you would have the odd herbivorous specializations of the panda, the eucalypt based diet of the koala, and the agility of the kangaroo. The goal? Have these animals benefit from the rampant growth of eucalypts that exist in the Iberian peninsula, which, in real life, are invasive plants that are damaging the floral and faunal communities of that region.
To create this creature, however, I avoided making it a literal hybrid, but rather instead I decided to make a creature that could feasibly exist that has attributes of these three animals together into one coherent design. As a result, this is a speculative creature, grounded in evolutionary science, rather than just a regular fantasy creature.

"The pangaroala (Ailurarctopus chimericus) is a basal species of phascolarctid that exists in the Iberian peninsula, 25 million years in the future, in an alternate timeline where humans never evolved. Descended from long-tailed basal phascolarctids, like Invictokoala (a real life Pleistocene animal, btw), they retained a more generalistic herbivorous diet and sharper mobility than its more derived true koala relatives. As Australia merged with Asia, as the continent moved northwards, the eucalypts started to invade Eurasia gradually over the millions of years (in contrast with our timeline where eucalypts were forcefully introduced by humans). As the eucalypts progressed so did the animals that were dependant of them, including the pangaroala. The pangaroala has a panda-like color pattern and the herbivorous specializations of an eucalypt eater, like the koala. In opposition to the slower koala and panda, they have powerful back legs and a long tail to allow this animal to hop around and sprint away from chasing predators, before it can climb into a tree or hide under bushes to avoid detection.
