Cuniculosuchus minutus is a future species of mekosuchine from New Caledonia, living 42 million years in the future. Being descended from the Mekosuchus genus, it is just one of the several different ecomorphs of mekosuchines that evolved in the isolated island of New Caledonia. This species is a specialized arboreal omnivore. With a large tail for balance it can effectively climb trees and occupy guilds otherwise filled by mammals in other places of the world. Cuniculosuchus has large forward facing teeth that work like the incisors of a rodent, allowing it to gnaw on bark and nuts of the island's trees. Retaining wide teeth at the back of the jawline, this crocodilian is adapted for the consumption of hard foods that it can open with its front teeth and grind with its back teeth.
