Description In the southeast asian rainforests, 30 million years in the future, we observe yet another native suid. This is Macroporcus gulosus, already one of the largest suids of this ecoregion. It measures up to 2 meters long. This is a forest-dwelling omnivore, preferring areas with enough moisture. It has a naked skin and it is, in many ways, a future equivalent to the extinct Holocene babirusa, although lacking the distinctive enormous tusks, having instead a smaller set of these. Males tend to live solitarily, but its not uncommon for one of them to take refuge alongside the females, which are more gregarious and live in non-stratificated groups for protection of the young.
