Description Ep.14: Clash of the Tiny Titans

Protecting the juveniles is an important, but challenging, duty. Although Panza can guarantee the babies don't stray away very far from the safety of the creche, this young female Protoceratops is not big enough to face the apex predator of this place. In a swift encounter, a very large adult female Velociraptor lunges to try and snatch a juvenile Protoceratops. This ferocious predator may be as big as a clouded leopard, but the unforgiving lands of the Djadochta make this world rather complicated for larger predators to find abundance, so the tiny rascals stand out as the apex predators of this desertic landscape. Armed with very sharp sickle claws and a mouth filled with serrated teeth, this creature can inflict enormous damage. One of the disadvantages of a Velociraptor, however, is that they do not live in groups, a trait the Protoceratops use in their favour. Divided between fleeing and standing her ground against the predator, Panza is surprised by an adult male of her species that charges against the feathered beast, exhibiting its powerful beaked jaws that can inflict irreparable damage in the rapid carnivore. In this instance, no one is injured, for the raptor knows better than to risk its life for such a well defended snack. Panza recovers her calm and takes a mouthful of greenery to fill her stomach, unpreoccupied that the Velociraptor also is in a struggle for survival.
