This is the 7th and last picture on page 11 of my new comic under construction "The Queen of Nothing".

What happened so far - Summary:

Troubled and confused, Aleea, the Lahari, is in search for her mate Fanil.

The First Mate of the "Squall", a human transport ship, has told her that she can find him high up in the crow's nest. And despite her terrible fear of heights, she finds the courage to climb up. One the one hand because the situation on the ship is more dangerous than she had thought and she needs some down-to-earth advice from the Sylvari. On the other hand she can hear voices in her head that force her to fight her fears.

After she has overcome herself and climbed a distance up the rope ladder, the whispering of the many voices becomes too much for her. She loses her courage again and the panic freezes her in mid-motion. She can't go any further and she is not able to turn back. Her strength is slowly leaving her.

She argues with the voices, begging them to be silent. In vain, and she seems to lose the test of mental strength against the souls of the dead.

It happens as it has to happen: Aleea turns her head and looks into the depths. Big mistake.

The vertigo sets in immediately, turning the world beneath her into a dark vortex that makes her nauseous.

Luckily, Fanil has good ears and would hear his lover, his chosen one, his companion even if she only had whispered and he were deeply asleep.

In fact, he had watched her the whole way up, wondering, but at the same time surprised and proud of her attempts to climb.

She almost made it up to him, entirely on her own. He can see the fear in her beautiful face, and of course he knows that she is troubled by sorrows and nightmares and heavily deprived of sleep for weeks now. He does not understand the reasons, but he knows the symptoms. Like a sickness of the mind.

There is no shame in the fact that she needs help now.
He smiles, stretching to extend his hand to her. Maybe, soon, they will sit in a tree in the forest together and watch the majestic view he always had wanted to show her.

Fanil pulls Aleea up and holds her tight so she can relax a bit. He can feel her small, delicate figure tremble in his embrace, although she knows that he would never let her go.
Normally Sylvari are not very curious. They take things as they are and rarely question them. They don't like strangers and they don't leave their forest.

Fanil was forced to be different in so many ways that he also learned to question things here and there. Aleea is an enigma to him, since she does so many things he cannot understand. Seeing her up here definitely is one of these things.

Current Scene:

He watches patiently how she pants and sobs and finally relaxes a little bit. There is no need to hurry, the danger she willingly put herself in is over.

Fanil anyway has but one question: "Brave - but why?"
