This is a really cool design! I like how its unnatural and otherworldly appearance is contrasted by the recognizable maple leaves, and how that contrast is amplified by the way you used color on the leaves but nowhere else.
It looks like the kind of creature that would be unnerving but easy to underestimate at a distance, depending on its size, but would be faster and deadlier than anyone anticipated.

Thank you kindly for your detailed comment.
I'd say Maple is a peaceful treant, not intent on violence. <

You're welcome! Good thing for anyone living near it that it's peaceful; you've created an interesting contrast between its appearance and its personality.

Hi i am fromΒ ProjectComment Β Β
Very well done, first time i look at it, i thought it was digital. I like the design of this creature it looks really ominous, kinda reminds me of the leshen from witcher 3 maybe because of the shape of its head, you've drawn the texture of the tree perfectly and those hidden symbols is a cherry on top it make the creature more interesting and gives some sort of story in to it, the line art is neat and well done and the lighting and shading is really nice as well, i see a little bit of highlight on its head and a few of the branches, that's a nice addition, it gives the viewer an idea on where your light source is located. The colors are great, i like that you give the leaves a more vivid brown orange color so it would stand out more, i also like the contrast of the leaves color to the sort of purple mist that the creatures body seems to be emitting. The sort of grey-ish light blue color of this creature is probably what gives of the ominous feeling, at least for me. Now on to the stuff that could improved this artwork, though keep in mind its base on my preference and opinion, so feel free to ignore it, first of all there wasn't really anything to be criticize about the piece, imaginative creature design tends to be for the most part not unless if it involves human anatomy of some kind, the only thing i could criticize is the the used of color/lighting and shading/lineart/and the composition, which you've done pretty well, so all i really have is a nitpick something that i think would improved the artwork. First is to add more details, you can never have enough of relevant details to add on, add some assortments, maybe more leaves, or more wrinkles, bugs that could live on this kind of tree, all that stuff. next is add much more darker color to the body of the tree, you know the sort of ribs like structure, make the gap much more darker so it would add more depth to your piece. overall a great traditional art.
Also Happy Holiday!

Thank you kindly for your comment! I very much appreciate seeing it through your eyes.
What I'm most unsure about in my artwork is contrast, that is enough dark shades to give it volume. It seems you picked up on it at the very end of your critique.
I am very pleased that the rest of the artwork seems to have worked well.
Thank you kindly for the pointers towards detailing. That's a very good idea, thank you.
Merry Holidays also!

This creature just looks amazing! The digital colours really pop out here - especially the red leaves against the greyish purply blue bark. The gnarled lineart and the highlights look magnificent. And I actually like the way you kept the background for this one - it's quite unique. The only question I could think of is does this creature have eyes? I'm so used to looking for them as a focal point that I find myself looking for them on this creature and I almost feel as though they are missing. However, if it's not meant to have eyes please disregard. Great work!

You're very right in observing the absence of eyes; I intentionally left them off. The face is meant to be odd and not like any living creature.
Anything approaching eyes are the two oddly-shaped holes just below the infinity symbol. I'd toyed with the idea of an animated tree with holes acting as rudimentary camera obscuras?
Thank you kindly for your comment and thanks for checking out my art!

Yeah I was pretty sure the lack of eyes was intentional.
You're welcome!

Such a unique creature!Β I love the bold red maple leaves contrast with the subtle greens in the gray "Tree".Β The contrasting symbolism of the infinity loop versus the broken circle/ring is intriguing.Β Definitely leaves me wanting to see/know more.

I imagined a dreaming druid carving these symbols into a twisted tree. Each rune would have purpose.
Infinity on the head gives it conscience, the broken circle unbinds its branches and roots and animates them.
Though... existence such as this comes with hardship.
