Cupid appears rather sulky, doesn't he?
It would appear that this young lady is along for the fishing not there for a date.

Something was once written on the stern of the Lil' Love Boat, but was
scribbled off by the sender - maybe someone with better eyes can make it out --
does it say "just a friend"?
if so that would make the reverse message a lot more understandable!
 To Mary -
Is this all the catch you had.
TOO BAD.
Hope this is not me.

How adorable!     Too bad the sender censored it.  It's odd they would do something so blatantly goofy.  Why bother to send the card at all?

There was an agenda that only they and Cupid understood, apparently

when defacement of the art is done in pencil, I often just erase it, or occasionally I can Photoshop the vandal's marks away. Once I was able to fix an entire face that had been scribbled off by locating an identical card online and swapping out the most damaged portions digitally by using what's called a layer mask. I'm completely new to this stuff but I get a little better each time I try my hand at it.

It's interesting how you accepted the challenge to correct the defacement by digital means.  I guess such efforts are actually part of an entire branch of art.  I remember reading about a famous painting by Correggio that was damaged by a madman with a sword.  Some restorer actually stitched it back together, and repainted the subject's entire face.

After having such a beauty (literally) defaced, she wasn’t of much value as a stock piece and I really wanted people to be able to enjoy her beauty and to give her a second chance.

I won’t dare show the “before” picture - too ghastly!
