there are some good vector tutorials on youtube, on inkscape and ponyscape. If you want, I can link you some good ones.
When you learn the basics, everything else is practice. I also suggest, when you start vectoring, to add your vectors to /r/mlpvectors subreddit, where you can ask for help from more experienced vector artists (I'm on that subreddit as well), and they will tell you how you can improve.
