Description WARNING: SPOILERS AHEAD
For those of you who haven't seen the Book 3 finale of Legend of Korra...GO WATCH IT RIGHT NOW LIKE WHAT ARE YOU EVEN WAITING FOR.Β

Gosh I was so happy when Jinora got her tattoos in the end. Wow, this means that she's officially the youngest female airbending master! I think Aang was younger than her when he got his tattoos.

I'm just excited to see how her hair will grow out since female airbender typically only shave half their head, but I really wanted to draw Jinora with a pixie cut. Gosh she looks so cute!

So if any of you have seen the finale, please tell me what you thought! Because I thought it was literally amazing, book 3 was such a great season!

I was like "they'll let her hair stay...usually they just shave the girl's hair in a certain manner or something..they won't shave her beautiful hair" and than I totally gasped when she was completely bald

Yeah it surprised me a bit too, but I guess it makes sense, since the arrows are supposed to follow the path of the chi throughout the body, so I guess it would make sense to shave her whole head because they need to get to certain parts.Β
Also maybe it was to draw parallels between Aang and Jinora!

Maybe...Maybe they're planning on using Jinora to contact the past Avatar lives because its not like they're NOT there anymore they're probably just wandering around in the spirit realm or something.

[Hey...how come Aang died in the avatar state and was brought back to life..no problems. Korra dies Avatar state, problems everywhere, even after she's brought back to life]

Hmm, maybe.. that's actually a really interesting theory. Especially because Jinora is the most spiritual person on the show!

Well I don't think that Aang was brought back to life no problems. I mean he was unconcious for weeks after that, and when he came to beginning of Book 3 on the stolen fire navy ship he was still really weak. Plus their injuries were very different. Aang was zapped by lightning and Korra had mercury poisoning, which is really harmful.
I had a teacher once who used to mess around with the mercury in thermometers when she was a kid and her hands still shake a little when she writes so Mercury is really detrimental to basic motor functions.

Well I figured since she's able to do that out-of-body spirit-thing that'll probably be a use for it eventually [even if they haven't thought of it yet, which they probably have]

Yeah. What I meant is he still had contact with the past Avatars and Korra...well not so much.

Also about the mercury. At least you know they're doing their research about what they use right? I mean can't be like "this is mercury" and have her bounce back immeditally

Oh yeah true! Im really excited to see what happens with Jinora in Book 4!

I always thought Korra lost connection permanently because she had Raava removed and then put back in in Book 2 idk haha

Shelia13 In reply to Yiamme [2014-08-27 01:29:55 +0000 UTC]

...totally forgot about Raava being removed. I just thinking she got killed again and trying to question when it happened and couldn't remember when it happened or why the line was fine when Aang was revived but not her.Β

Also...if we have an Avatar. Just one. How do we even know for sure that killing an avatar in their avatar state will kill the entire line of avatars?

Yiamme In reply to Shelia13 [2014-09-01 18:39:21 +0000 UTC]

Hmm I think why killing the avatar in the avatar state actually severs the connection between the avatar and raava, that' why there will be no more avatars, because what connects the avatars together is raava... not too sure though. I guess we'll have to see and find out!

..or...we'll never find out and be left in suspense forever..

...like Zuko's mother..

even the manga for that didn't have the answers

Oh really? I thought the manga answered the question of Zuko's mother pretty well...? I mean they really explained what happened to her. We're both talking about the Search comic right?

This is such a cool picture! Your style is so unique, and I really like Jinora in it. I especially like the colouring and how you drew her hair. This picture conveys Jinora's seriousness but also her spirit.

I thought the finale was really intense! I thought though that the emotional pacing was kind of rocky at the end - after all of the intense emotions and everything of the battle and so many people dying or almost dying, suddenly Zaheer was reduced to sort of a comic character and then wham two weeks later and Korra isn't doing so well but Jinora is finally getting her tattoos! That was a lot to take in after the high-tension battles! So I wished there could have been at least a few more minutes of transition but the episode had to pack an unbelievable amount into 23 minutes. However, there was so much I loved, it was just the last few minutes I had mixed feelings on. Wasn't it cool with Bolin lavabending and when Mako took down Ming-Hua I was just like WHOAAAA! And I loved Korra's dad in it! And when Beifong was going to sacrifice herself!! I felt that P'Li's character development was kind of squished in hastily before she kicked it, but it was still really interesting and then how that led to Zaheer's entrance to 'the void' was so intense and cool. I don't know about you, but I think that Metalbender who helped bandage Tonrak's arm is Red Lotus. What do you think?

(Thanks for asking for opinions on the finale in the comments; no one I know in person watches this show so I haven't been able to talk to anyone about it! )

Thank you! I really want to see Jinora in short hair sometime! Something like Emma Watson's haircut after Harry Potter ended or something, I think that would really suit her! Jinora is one of my fave characters because she is so herself!

Oh yeah, I was a little upset when the Red Lotus fell and Zaheer was the only one left. I was sort of rooting for them too haha, because they were such an awesome villian group! Seriously, we haven't had such a badass team since Ty Lee, Mai, and Azula! The finale really made my heart race because it was so face paced and intense like you said!

And it broke my heart that Korra was still slowly recovering and in a wheelchair. She was such a strong character and bending was literally her 'element' (haha get it?) but I can see how the poison and the intense battle really wore her out. It really struck me how she could have such a low point, kind of how we all do occasionally.Β

It's hard to imagine that those two episodes were only around 40 minutes long! It felt so much longer with all that action packed into it!

Yeah Bolin lavabending was so awesome! I knew he was going to master some sub-form of bending and I was secretly hoping it would be lava, it really suited him. So I was so happy when he was finally able to do it. And at first I was panicking a little when Mako fell into that pool with Ming-Hua, and it was almost tragic that what made Ming-Hua so powerful ended up killing her. And it broke my heart that Zaheer was finally able to 'enter the void' because he lost P'Li. Kind of reminds me of how Aang refused to give up Katara to unlock the last Chakra back in the atla series.Β

Hmm, I don't think the person who helped bandage Tonrak's arm is Red Lotus, but she does seem like an awesome character! I hope we get to see her more because she was pretty awesome even if she only got like 2 lines haha.

Gosh sorry for such a long comment! I just really love both atla and Legend of Korra! They're basically my life haha. I really watch and enjoy both those shows! So if you ever want to talk more about them, please feel free to talk all you want to me!

I was not expecting Bolin to lavabend at all! I was just expecting him to eventually metalbend, predictable but cool. But no, they took it to the next level! I wonder how many lavabenders there are? He and Gazhan are the only ones I've heard of. I think it kind of matches Bolin's personality more, since metalbending involves concentrating and visualising the tiny pieces of earth. Lavabending seems more "raw power to melt it raaaa!" which might be more his style.

That's such a good connection between Aang's struggle to unlock the last chakra and what happened with Zaheer. Really cool insight! Shows great continuity between the two series.

I wonder which one of us will be right about the woman who bandaged his arm? I felt like they played some ominous music when they showed her, but then I was expecting her to try to kill Tonrak or something while Su was gone, but nothing bad happened. Maybe she will just become a cool new character!

Unlike most people I liked Book 2 better, since I loved all the spirit world and lore development and wasn't as into the Red Lotus as some people. I was kind of hoping there would be more with spirits in the human world in Book 3, like in the beginning with plants growing through Republic City, but they sort of dropped it once the Red Lotus came along. But it was a great season, and it's interesting that LoK is taking a new direction to up the ante for Book 4 by having the villain (Red Lotus organisation) continue for more than one season. (Unlike Amon and Unalaq, who were both defeated in the same season they were introduced.) I'm super excited to see what Zuko's daughter is like!! I'm also secretly hoping we'll meet old-lady-wanderer Toph!

The other thing I'd like to see more of in Book 4 is character development for Mako. Not a lot happened with him in this book, although the tradeoff was that we got to see Asami and Korra develop a friendship, which was so awesome! I love how even though they used to have a bit of a rivalry over Mako, they're both so over that and can be best friends now! I tend to have more guy friends than girl friends so I could really relate to Korra when she was enjoying having a galpal.

(Sorry for the super long comment again; if you don't want to keep responding on your picture you can just note me!)

True! I would imagine lavabending to be a really difficult form of earthbending, kind of like bloodbending or something idk. It would be cool to see other lavabenders though!

Really? I loved Book 2, but it seemed a little disorganized in the first half to me, idk. I also didn't really enjoy the part with the love triangle back in Republic City with Mako, that seemed a little stale and overused. But other than that I agree with you! It was especially nice to see the flashback to Avatar Wan! Those two episodes are still my favorite in the whole Lok series probably, just because the art style and story worked so well together. And the second half of Book 2 was also really on point. Yeah, I also expected more spirits in Book 3. It would have been cool to see how they were integrated with daily life.

And old lady Toph! Yes! I'm really hoping we get to see her.

Yeah I agree with you! The friendship between Asami and Korra was really refreshing. A lot of TV series tend to make women seem petty by fighting over males (see the Bechdel Test haha) so Book 3 was a really nice direction! And I hope we get to see more of Mako too!

Oh yeah we should probably note each other! haha
