This is one of my favorite things.
As a kid, I've always been really enamored by Death and his different designs in each Castlevania game. I loved and very much appreciated how Death had always been Dracula's friend. I only recently got to love Dracula as much as I do now, (thank you, Castlevania series!) and to see this on tumblr? It was everything my heart ever wanted to see. It took me back to when I was younger and honestly, thank you so much for drawing such a wonderful thing!Β
This is so beautiful, down to the design you picked for Death and how everything is placed! I love the small bit of commentary you'd added, (the 'wake up' thing) and I just. UGH. This makes me so happy, you have no idea. I was so upset for not seeing Death in the series, and to see this was, again, everything I ever wanted to see. Also Drac's little fang there is killing me. Love it!

An interesting take on Castlevania's Death, I think would be, having him and Dracula be dear friends.
Meeting, due to the Vampire's long life and experiments leading to him and actually getting the Reaper indebted to him. Instead of him collecting on it Dracula instead uses this tie to strike up a conversation with this ages old being whose starved for interaction.
Death makes it clear that being friends and being his servant is mutually exclusive, should he ever call on the debt. For century's Dracula let's it be, but when his wife is killed and he requires his help in gaining revenge. The mournful Vampire sorrowfully collects on thr favor owed him.Β
Gaining a powerful ally, but loosing a friend, who's bound by cosmic law to help destroy the species he's actuallyfond of.
