Description
- This is Alina, my dear friend. Taken last year in february.
I've always liked this shot but never managed to get the noise out of it without damaging the picture too much.
Hope you like it!
From the same shoot:
Oh i love her, she's such a poser

See, I really like the slight graininess to this.
It fits the actual feeling quite well, I think.
Beautiful shot.

Nice pic! But there's something terribly wrong with your camera's sensor...

I mean that on ISO 400 Canon 4OOD gives totally clean images, and here's quite a lot noise, expecially in red chanel, which is strange, cause normally the most "noisy" chanel is the blue one. If you still have Canon varranty, I hardly advice taking a good use of it, the problem may only get worse and worse Sad but true, Canon cares a little about amateur-class cameras and their quality control

oh, i see. well, i have to defend my trusty camera and say that the noise is there because the image was really underexposed to begin with, which was only my fault, and the fact that it's backlit probably contributed towards this.
and taking into consideration that the picture was taken more than a year ago and my 400D still delivers ok images, i tend to think it didnt worsen.
but you might be right, i dont know much about the insides of a camera. i don't have the warranty anymore, but oh well. i hope i can upgrade soon.
thanks a lot for the reply

The noise itself is not the main problem, but the thing, that it should be mostly blue, not red. Anyway, maybe I'm a bit overreacting, cause I'm both photographer and tester, if U're happy with your camera and your image quality, then everything is fine

I know that 400D is a good camera, IMO much better than 450D and 550D

what do you think of the 40D? i think i want to upgrade to one of these because you can get them really cheap nowadays

I depends... Used - no way, brand new - nice stuff... But consider saving some more money for 50D, it has that nice feature of calibrating af of lenses, which is really nice, cause of all those back focuses, front focuses et cetera. In my opinion 30D was much better than 40D (I used to work on about 3 or 4 of those as a photojournalist a few years ago, solid workhorses). Or, if you like portraits, fashion and such stuff, think about used 5D, many advanced amateurs sell them to buy mk II, but their cameras are in good shape (check the shutter count, that's a must).
BTW, i think that our chat is a bit out of topic here, under your image, anyway, if you need any more advice or so, write mail, note or sth, I'll be hapy to help you
