Description
This is a new version of my origional Mars Political Map that has become so popular. I feel this better reflects the politics of my Second Renaissance scenario by 2050, but for some backstory:During the 2020s a single NGO was able to achieve Single Stage to Orbit space flight, and in doing so became the first company to profit from space based industry and mining. By 2025 this company had become the most powerful entity in the world, commanding trillions in financial power, and operating the largest network of humanitarian projects ever seen.
In the 2030s this company, having spent trillions in R&D over the last decade, began its most ambitious project yet, the Terraforming of Mars. While complete habitability would not be achieved until the end of the century, a number of regions did become suitable for human colonization by the end of the 2030s. Under contract from the richest nations on Earth, the Mars Colonial Authority was established and the planet was divide up among the respective client nations, save for the uninhabitable Polar Region.

I think when we finally reach mars, nation states will be a thing of the past.(the world will have anarchy, wich is much better since it won't be based on voilence but on voluntarism)
these expeditions will probably be commercial.

I'm making a new map based around commercial exploitation of Mars, but Nation States aren't going anywhere for some time. I think Mars will have a modernized version of the East India Company that will be the driving force behind colonization, but Nation-States on Earth will continue to do what they do. Anarchy isn't what people want or need.Β

Mars would probably begin usher terraforming by 2500. But still a pretty nice map.

That's mean, Russia and Canada hater! Canada plays a major role in supporting many future manned missions to Mars (MARS one, ect.), so I don't get why its not here. The same goes for Russia. Y U NO INCLUDE BOTH???

This is very interesting. It seems to me that what most science fiction writers miss out on is the fact that planets are, well, PLANETS! All the planets in fiction seem to treat themselves as single countries or even single cities, with entire galaxies under a single government! I don't think it can even work that way, no matter how advanced a civilization is! What you have here is something more believable: a variety of different government regions on a single planet, perhaps ruled altogether with a single United Nations-Type council for each planet colonized, with a few renegade territories here and there.
In the case of this individual map, the only thing that doesn't make sense is that you have it taking place in the 2030's. Actually, it would make more sense to me if it took place in the 22nd or even 23rd century or later. Just saying. Interesting and truly creative idea anyways!

nukes in the core of the planet? interesting! i wonder, however, how technology has advanced so fast by this time. Were drills used to get the nukes down there?

Heat Drills, we have em' now only small scale, and the detonations are only to, "soften it up," what actually drives a magnetic field was the use of solar mirrors and asteroid tugs, to fuse Phobos and Demos with additional mass to drive a sustainable tidal effect.

The US and EU territories are based on where Russian and American probes had landed over the decades. Everything else was contracted.

i'm seeing some really uneven coastline distributian among the colonies here, even if there is no sea-trade or fishing industry....
the hydrogen/oxygen dependant colonys would probably get into conflict sooner or later over acces to H2O supplies.

Actually, I think any civilization capable of terraforming a planet, would have figured out how to best manage water supplies. The atmosphere is already breathable where humans have settled, and if you were referring to Hydrogen for fuel, the colonists use electricity generated through Solar, Wind, Hydro, and Fusion like they do on Earth in this TL.

How come Europe no longer has Argyre? It would be a nice place and a power like that would likey get to it far quicker the South East Asia.

It isn't a matter of any single nation's ability to get to it, they contracted a private company to set up their colonies and paid for the borders they got.

When it realized that it is impossible to micromanage ever subdivision of its empire, much like the other human nations with a lot of off-Earth colonies. So most countries have established Four-Tier Republics, with a new level of representation in between States/Provinces and the Central Government. Japan established an actual empire instead.
