We have another picture I commissioned the awesome and talented :icon artist-exhale to draw! This one is of the songwriters that I imagined would do the music for my story “SquarePants Are Magic” (www.deviantart.com/yodajax10/a… ) if it was real.

The fish is a caricature of Alan Menken. The composer for animated Disney classics such as The Little Mermaid, Beauty And The Beast, Aladdin and so many more. The pegasus is a caricature of Tim Rice. A lyricist who has worked for many names such as Andrew Lloyd Webber, Elton John and Freddie Mercury. He is also no stranger to animation, working with John on Disney’s The Lion King and DreamWorks’ The Road To El Dorado.

Alan and Tim’s collaborations began with Aladdin. After the death of lyricist and producer Howard Ashman, Alan was struggling to finish up the film. Tim Rice who was already working on The Lion King (Back when it was called King Of The Jungle), was called in to help Alan finish up the songs with One Jump Ahead, A Whole New World and a reprise of Prince Ali. His work on the film was praised and would win him and Alan an Academy Award for A Whole New World. Alan and Tim would later collaborate on the 1994 musical of Beauty And The Beast including it’s 2017 live action remake and a musical based on the Bible stories of David called King David.

Now you’re all probably wondering, why would I choose these two for the music? Especially since both shows already have musical feelings at times? Well, given the stuff I covered and talked about in the past like Atlantis Squarepantis, Magical Mystery Cure and My Little Pony: The Movie, they don’t have the best executions when it comes to big musicals. I feel like if Alan and Tim were brought aboard, they would give not only a more theatrical quality to it, but also stand out on its own despite being a crossover. I think SpongeBob SquarePants: The New Musical had this idea in mind, because they brought in people with more experience with music like Cyndi Lauper, John Legend and They Might Be Giants to write it.
