but i don't know really how to add the other pieces? wouldn't it look weird with white boxes around the dragon? I will just figure it out

Well when using MS paint, theres a button that makes the white of a selected section dissapear. I havent used it in so long so I kinda forgot how it worked yet I used it alot when I first started out XD

Click on that and then click on the white space around each of the sections. It should highlight the background. Once you've done that, press Delete :3 Then simply copy and paste the part you want over the default picture ^^
