Description This is my first large scale print that I feel is actually successful.

DIMENSIONS: 22x30 inches
PAPER:RIVES BFK GRAY
COLORS: 2 color drops

PROCESS: Lithography and Silkscreen (if you can find where I put the silkscreen drop you win)

CONCEPT: using rock and natural forms I'm trying to create a space in which my rock figures gather. The idea of gathering is something I think we all seem to take for granted. we gather in so many places, for so many different reason....why do we not cherish the time taken to be in a place as another.

yeah, im really liking the character of your stones. i think that there is a simple, caring sweetness in them, and this idea of gathering is retained by their curiously angled tops, or heads, and the wide grounding of their lower bodies. the large stone has great power with similar character, though its head is commanding. the contrast between light and dark planes is also well done.

and your lines in the stone textures are lovely, im always inspired by natural lines, how unpredictable, rough and vulnerable they are. to pull that off i think requires an elegant style, as apposed to a hard-pressed style that i often see in illustrations.

thank you for the eloquent comment. you have no idea how much this comment has made my day so much better.

It very pleasing and shocking to find out a person sees so much in my work. it makes the soul feel better. thank you for that good feeling.

You’re welcome. Part of the joy I get in viewing art is trying to go through the thought process of the artist and then finally ending, sometimes, with the realization that I have no idea first where it came from, and second, how it was made (usually in the non-technical way). That’s a sign of a true artist, because your process took you through many little problems that you solved in ways only you could have! Plus, today I was gonna start work on drawings and wasn’t sure how it would turn out… but stuff like this inspires me always to go for it. Thanks!

This is very beautiful. The form is not human yet it seems so alive.

i really enjoy this piece/concept. did you use tusche wash for the lithography process? the large monolith in the background is so nice to the eye. success, indeed.

I used the water tusched! I just place water on my Aluminum plate, and then gentely apply the tusche. This was I can let the material move on it's own and settle on the plate wthout much manipulation. and of course I drew into it.

That you for the comment and the FAVE!

you got the answer!! yup, that's the only drop of silkscreen ink on the print!!! I'm glad that it's easily noticeable, I tried to make the bottom left corner the focal point.
