First off, no one has commented on the "I Dream of Jeannie " parallels yet? Oy, I feel so old!
The idea of Finn and Fire Princess being together is a heartfelt wish, but the truth is that they're can never be close. Even worse, she'd never be happy all bottled up, and Finn could never feel good about "containing" (imprisoning) his love. Both the thought of togetherness and the warm, loving glow that fills the scene, can never make up for the pain they feel. It's fantastically bittersweet, and good thing Finn can keep from crying despite all this.

On your comment about the couple, I believe they can be together, Jake was inmune to fire by a substance that I can't remember at the moment, but it was something that turned him blue, and made him able to touch fire with no problem, also, Finn has stated that he'd defy nature for her, so it is possible that something might happen in the future.

Oh yeah, I even remember wondering why they didn't find Flame-O (sp?) and ask for the spell. As for the picture here, I could only think of all the pain that happened afterwards.
BTW, what's the deal with isolating Finn from princesses? Gumball chewed him out, Flame Princess isn't working out so well, and Marceline said she won't hang out with him anymore (though that could have been the perfect throwaway line for the circumstances.)

PB rejected Finn so no future with her, and I see Marceline as just a great friend or an older sister that would help Finn understand the world better, besides she has already stated that she has no interest in him (I'm not sure if she will ever comeback, but I bet she WILL, as she is one of the most beloved chars by fans, not me though lol)
FP has a great chance with Finn for now, at least the biggest of all the princesses, after all her last episode ended in a cliffhanger and there are posibilities that they may end up together, though let's be realistic, I'm pretty sure they will leave them alone until much later seasons, I think it's very early for Finn to get a steady girlfriend in the show.
