Description
This isn't anything historical or have something in canon and it's really more of a thing in the Japanese fandom, but no one's stopping me from drawing something for it! Now the day is based on a Japanese pun, so it's a bit hard to understand. If I remember correctly, it goes like this: 11 is made up of two of the number "1". The character for "1" can be read as 'i', so two 1's can be 'ii'. 'ii' means 'good'. The character for '2' can be alternatively read as 'futatsu'. So combining 'ii' and 'futatsu' makes 'いい夫婦' (ii fuufu), which translates to 'Good Couple' (referring to, but not strictly limited, husband and wife.) 22 November is called 'Good Couple Day' in Japan. In the series, Sweden refers to Finland as his 'wife', which often leads to interpretation of the two as a married couple. Because the pair is also commonly called 'Hanatama Fuufu' (Hanatama Couple) in the Japanese fandom, there's a pretty good amount of fanarts for it on 22 November.
Now, I just personally really love this pair nyo'ed (I like all their forms though, this is just one of my favored). I do imagine Sweden still referring to Finland as her 'wife' because she would actually be a female, but this is originally a title for the opposite sex from regular Finland. I assume it's because in a heterosexual, or so-called, "normal" (though homosexuality is equally as normal), couple there is a husband and wife that Sweden calls Finland his 'wife'. Sort of play-pretend, so to speak, of the "norm". This makes me headcanon that the Nyotalia version of Sweden would instead consider herself to be like Finland's husband, (I don't think it'd make sense for nyo!Finland to be considered this role) to pretend being a heterosexual couple. (Of course, in the two hetero versions of this pair, faking heterosexuality is not a problem.) This headcanon of mine is why I had nyo!Sweden wear a suit as opposed to a dress, since a husband typically wears a suit for a wedding. Women do occasionally wear suits instead of wedding dresses in real life, so I thought this was fine. But, now I know there are exceptions (such as perhaps transgender or transsexual people), it is not considered "normal" (REMEMBER! I know no sexuality is more natural than another) in society for a man to wear a dress. So I decided against having regular male Finland in a dress. Perhaps to think they're "straight" (I don't like this usage) they'd pretend he was just one of those brides who wear suits? I think my opinions or flat out wording may be contradictory, especially with mentions of sexuality, so if you disagree with me on something, please discuss it maturely and politely and I'll hear you out.
