Description
This bird referred to as Common Guillemot is to be more precise called "Uria".Guillemot or Guillemots is a term referring to a species of birds belonging to the Auks (just like the Puffins and the Razorbills).
Guillemot derives apparently from the French spelling of the name William "Guillaume". Not sure why? Possibly a guy has studied them or even discovered them?

Uria aalge or Common Guillemot is also known as Common Murre or Thin-billed Murre. The one in your picture is of the bridled variety with the white pattern around the eye, which gets more common the further north you get.

Can't agree less birds are amazing. Great attitude, this is what I try with my Puffin group
I will now start adding information about these birds. If you like to check it out some time or contribute with some writing or even know some specialist on puffins please all contrbutions are galdy received. Feel free to add or correct anything I say about birds. As I told you I am no professional and I sometimes wish I would have listened more to my old man, when I was young, although no ornithologist he has a lot to say about birds. So these days I hardly get to see him, however I make sure whenever I am with him to learn as much as I can of him.
Thanks You for your group and sharing your knowledge - it is an honor.
