Ask him stuff! | Heart Chart | Playlist | Voice Claim

Name: Ridge (formerly known as Elias Nathanial Camelli)
Nickname: None, don't bother
Age: 19
Birthday: August 4, 1999
Gender: Male
Species: Salandit
Nature: Rash
Summary Characteristic: Likes to fight
Height: 5'1"
Orientation: Pansexual (prefers females, but anything can happen. )
Relationship Status: Single, but showing some interest in someone~

Partner: Blue Copper

Ability: Corrosion

Moves:
 Flamethrower
 Sludge Bomb
 Thief
 Swagger
 Shadow Ball

Weapon Appearance: Ridge's weapon form is a medium-range flamethrower with two cylinders attached to it to make up a sort of backpack for his Meister to carry him effectively. On top of the handle, there is a button that allows the Meister to switch from shooting fire via Flamethrower to shooting poison via Sludge Bomb to shooting ghostly blobs of death via Shadow Ball. In weapon form, Flamethrower is shot as a continuous spray of fire that has a short range but it's more powerful. Shadow Ball has decent range and damage capacity, although how much damage it does varies because he's still adjusting to having the new attack and learning how to effectively use it. Sludge Bomb is the least powerful of the three attacks he can use in weapon form, but it can be shot from the furthest distance and it explodes upon impact, kind of like a grenade. He cannot use Thief and Swagger in Weapon form.

Oddly, because Ridge himself is left-handed, his weapon is designed to be used for/by a left-handed Meister, with their left hand holding the trigger and aiming the nozzle while their right hand holds the handle and presses the button to change the type of ammunition used. This doesn’t mean a right-handed Meister can’t use him; it just means it may be awkward for them to hold him at first.

Personality:

(N) aloof, blunt, sarcastic

The first thing you'll notice about him is that he's awful with people, and as such he stays distant and tries not to get attached to others. It's for your safety, but even if things don't go horribly wrong in an interaction with him, expect a lot of brutal honesty and sarcasm. He won't beat around the bush or sugarcoat anything-if he's got something to say, he will say it and make it very clear how he feels about it. He also tends to not readily believe in others and what they say, and he takes things with a grain of salt and a lot of sarcasm. His sarcasm isn't all bad, though. If he does get attached to you, he might make some playfully sarcastic remarks all in good fun to show that you're on his good side and even a friend to him.

(-) quick-tempered, callous, sadistic

If you must interact with him, be careful around him, as he's got an explosive temper that can be easily set off by rather insignificant things. A minor insult to him could very quickly lead to a fist fight. Once things get physical, he doesn't care what happens to you. If you're in pain, he will relish in it-especially if he caused it. He loves to see others suffer by his own hand and to draw out that misery for as long as possible. At least he can put his sadistic tendencies to good use against the various Kishin that plague the world and not against his fellow students, right? ...Right?!?

(+) unflinching, loyal, confident

Yes, there is indeed some good in him despite all the overwhelming negatives! Nothing scares him-from heights to deep water to dying-although whether it's from actual bravery, recklessness, or stupidity has yet to be determined (hint: it's the latter 2). He'll take anything head-on, and if you and him are particularly close, he'll even die for you if the situation calls for it without any hesitation or problems. Even outside of life-or-death combat, he shows his loyalty by staying true to his word and not giving up the friendship at the first sign of trouble. Just keep in mind that with him this loyalty needs to be shown back to him or else a friendship/partnership/relationship with him won't work out. Regardless, he's very sure of himself, his abilities, and his actions...even though we all know he makes horrible decisions.

Backstory: (TW for strong language, fire, and drowning)

In a small, sleepy town in the middle of scenic nowhere, there are three key things that can turn anyone into a social pariah:

1. being a known Demon Weapon in a town where they are feared and hated,
2. having rumors spread about you being demon spawn because you're a weapon, and
3. having the world's shortest fuse and a tendency to wreak havoc on anyone who stands in your way.

Combine all three into one package and you get this Salandit.

Born as Elias Nathanial Camelli, his birth in his Wyoming hometown was a rather unusual one: he was somehow born with his right arm in weapon form. Needless to say, everyone in that hospital room lost it. Once his arm transformed back into a proper Salandit arm and everyone calmed down, a senior nurse explained to the parents that she had seen something like this before. She explained that the child was a Demon Weapon, which was caused by having the Weapon gene passed down from one or both parents, although it usually didn't activate until around the onset of puberty. She asked them if there were any relatives that had the gene, but neither parent could explain where it came from-no one within the last 3 generations on either side of the family had the gene, from the grandparents to his other 3 older siblings; how did it suddenly pop up now? She then warned the parents that people in this town did not take kindly to Demon Weapons and advised them to either put the child up for adoption or move to a different city where he would be accepted. Not understanding how genetics works, they reasoned that this would go away as he got older, like asthma, and ignored her advice.

They should have listened.

Elias' first memory comes from when he was five years old in kindergarten. By this time, due to some very lax parenting and lack of discipline, he had become the angry child from hell that threw loud and violent tantrums whenever he didn't get his way. One day, what started out as a trivial fight for a pack of crayons between two five-year-old boys turned into him transforming his right arm into his weapon and unleashing an Ember attack. To the teacher and everyone else, it was horrible and frightening, yet to him...that felt really good. All his stress and anger had faded away once the fire came out of his weaponized arm. That day his parents were forced to explain his Weapon status to both Elias and the school staff, all the while assuring the other adults that his attitude problem and weaponhood were just part of a phase.

While that resolved a couple of short term problems, it created a lot of long term problems. If he wasn't already feared before, he certainly was now. Rumors started to spread about him and his weapon powers being evil and signs of the devil. At first, the young Salandit didn't understand why people feared him and his weapon abilities; he tried to show that he was still a good child despite his massive anger problem and weapon powers, but he soon realized they'd never change their minds about him no matter what he did. So...he accepted and embraced their fear with open arms. He started out as a typical school bully that used his powers and started fires to get his way-first from his peers and later including authority figures. During this time, he developed a lust for power and control at the cost of some much-needed social skills, but it didn’t matter as long as he got his way. Despite multiple attempts by multiple people to get him to try therapy and medication and to switch schools, nothing worked.

As Elias got older, puberty struck, and all the testosterone flowing through him only made him angrier, yet terrorizing anyone who crossed him the wrong way wasn't as fun or satisfying as it used to be, and as such he simply left them alone. Or so they would think. If he had a bone to pick with anyone, he began committing arson as his way of getting back at them. The feeling of watching something valuable burn to the ground reawakened the emotional release that setting fires had brought when he was a child, which quickly started his ‘career’ as a serial arsonist. Even though he risked his life multiple times during this time, he was at least smart enough to account for any potential witnesses, and as such he only struck during the middle of the night, when he was 100% sure he wouldn’t get caught. While everyone in town correctly suspected he was the one responsible for the fires, no one had the evidence needed to prove it.

This went on for about two years, until he made two grave mistakes on one cold October night:

1. lighting an undercover police officer’s house on fire, and
2. assuming this person lived alone.

Earlier that day, the Salandit had encountered a gentleman who tried to pick a fight with him for his underage smoking. While Elias surprisingly kept his calm at that moment, he followed the man to his house and got his revenge later that night as he lit it on fire. As he watched it burn to the ground, he heard a sudden shriek coming from a woman who was still inside the house. Seconds later, police and ambulance sirens approached the burning house. The same man from earlier, now dressed in his police uniform, showed up and found the Salandit staring back at him like a Deerling caught in a headlight. He ran as fast as he could from the cop until he encountered a motorcycle lying in the neighbor’s yard-conveniently with its keys still in the ignition. He hopped on and drove away as fast as he could from the growing number of squad cars following him.

Unbeknownst to him, he drove into Death City a few hours after the chase began. The officers knew about Lord Death and his jurisdiction over the city and abruptly ended their pursuit, letting the Dusknoir deal with the punk. Upon his sudden arrival at the academy, he was greeted by a lone female student. After a minor dispute involving him swiping and drinking her Permanent Purple Brew and obtaining a Sandile’s stripes, she explained where he was, who went here, and what the students at the DWMA did. As they talked, he abandoned his initial plan of hiding out at the academy for a few days and instead decided to enroll. She offered to introduce him to Lord Death and argue for him to join, to which he agreed.

After receiving a stern talking-to from Lord Death regarding his past behavior and agreeing to some mandatory counselling to help with his anger problems, Elias legally changed his name to Ridge and enrolled in the N.O.T. class to learn more about his weapon abilities. He shortly switched over to the E.A.T. class once he felt more confident in his weapon abilities...and because his peers in the N.O.T. class were starting to piss him off.

Things had been going well in the E.A.T. class, getting 99 souls with his Meister and generally enjoying his life, aside from him disowning his family, but he's not super concerned about that. Then the time came for his Witch Hunt. To make the story short, it didn't go well, but as much as he doesn't want to remember it, he still does. Quite vividly. The two of them had been sent to take the soul of a rain witch who loved to use her abilities to cause floods, and through a surprise attack on her part and some bad luck, he got caught in one of her waves. It didn't take long for him to tire out and succumb to his fate as the water filled his lungs. The last things he remembers hearing before his death and subsequent ghostly rebirth were his Meister's screams and a wise woman's haunting words.

TL;DR version: Elias discovered his weapon form and love of setting things on fire after getting into a fight with a fellow kindergartener over a box of crayons. He realized soon afterwards that he could exploit these to get whatever he wanted and said "fuck being a hero" and turned into a villain. Puberty only made him a bigger, stronger, and angrier asshat and he began committing arson to get back at those who wronged him instead of dealing with them directly. His time as a serial arsonist went on for about two years until he torched a cop's house and realized "oh shit, I could go to prison for this...but NOT TODAY, MOTHERFUCKERS!" He stole a motorcycle and drove to the DWMA within Death City where he encountered a student who explained where he was and what everyone did here. In order to hide himself from the cops, he drank a Permanent Purple Brew, legally changed his name to Ridge, and enrolled in the academy. Then he died during his Witch Hunt and now he's a spooky ghost Death Scythe lizard.

This guy isn't the most pleasant 'mon to be around, and if you wanna RP with him and are concerned about his swearing/rudeness/etc., please don't hesitate to tell me before/during an RP! I'll tone him down.

Likes:

cauliflower-why, Arceus? Why does it exist?!?
 being touched by most people

Extras!

He sometimes refers to himself as Elias when talking to himself. He's gotten better at not doing this in public, but for your safety, don't call him out on it.
After dying, his arms, legs, and tail have become slightly transparent. Not in the way to see the bones and muscles underneath them, but enough that you can poke through them and your finger will go through to the other side, almost like a hologram.
Speaking of that, he's become a little self-conscious about it, and while he acts like he has normal limbs, he does cover them with long, dark clothes to hide them.
Take a wild guess as to who convinced him to enroll and who ruined everyone else's lives by doing so.
His personal life philosophy,  summed up in a single picture. Funny how life works that way...
He only learned how to fully transform into his weapon form during his time in the N.O.T. class.
What the hell happened to Ridge's eyes? He's not sure why it changed like that, but it turned into that edgy mess after he died.
The two symbols on the flamethrower's canisters are tattoos he has on his body. The flame tattoo is located on his right wrist and the radioactive symbol is on his left wrist. Oddly his orange tail stripe makes no appearance in his weapon form, although it does retain the stripe's glowiness.
