I'll just say it. I'm not the biggest Pokemon fan. I've played a few games but I've never bought an actual Pgame before. Don't get me wrong, I don't have a problem with the series. It's just that I never made a move due to being more interested in other games. I did play the demo for Sun and Moon and I can say that the game easily became a priority for me. I love how much it's flipping the script on how Pokemon works and expands on their biology with Aloha variations. Also the mystery of the Ultra Beasts.But the thing I love the most are the designs of the characters. With every new entry, they improve with more creative designs that not only look cool but convey what they're about. You look at Team Skull, you can not only tell they're bad news but also that they work more like a street gang. You look at the Aether Foundation, you can tell that they're trying to achieve a greater understanding.
I drew the Aether Foundation first because they interest me a bit more than Team Skull. I feel like I know a lot of what Team Skull is about but the Aether Foundation still seems very enigmatic. We know that they are interested in the Ultra Beasts, curing hurt Pokemon and stopping Team Skull, but I can't help but feel like there's more to them. Pokemon games are usually more about the adventure than the story, but I feel that the player might butt heads with the Aether Foundation despite both having good intentions.
Alright, time to explain some things that people might not even try to read! I know about UB-01, UB-02 Beauty and UB-02 Absorption. I also know that there are other Ultra Beasts but I started working on this way before the leaks came out. I have Beauty and Lusamine lined up like that because of their often compared designs. And I chose to draw Lusamine in that floating embracing pose because of the line she said about wanting to be like a mother onto all Pokemon and shower them with love. That line alone makes me wonder if there's more here than meets the eye. I could be wrong but we'll see...

Yeah, I have been interested in jumping into the Pokemon series since Black and White -- which I heard had the best story in the mainline Pokemon games but never did. I just thought that overall the experience would grow stale for me, but Sun and Moon seem to have a lot going for it to make a very robust experience.

You're not the only one who thinks there's more to the Aether Foundation than meets the eye; I've heard a range of different theories from different people. Some think they secretly have ulterior motives, some think Team Skull are actually the not so bad guys, some think the Foundation are aliens or Pokémon themselves assuming human form to blend in with the rest of the island and perform their research in plain sight. Who knows really. Certainly adds an interesting plot possibility to the story, but we'll see in due time I suppose. I just hope I don't end up spoiling myself unintentionally before I even get the money to purchase it.
In any case, this is a stunning piece to see with full color and shading applied. You never hold back when it comes to giving it your best and I enjoy how well you're sticking to implementing your ever-evolving comic book style to the subjects you illustrate. Beautiful effects and commendable effort on creating a poster-worthy composition dedicated to the upcoming Pokémon games. Bravo, dude.

Yeah, the speculation's been a bit nuts on this. I'm not one to normally look at fan theories, but these really made me wonder with what we saw so far. The only one that I think grasped a bit too many straws is the one Aether Foundation actually being Pokemon. Mostly due to many characters from the past showing to dress like their favorite Pokemon. But then again, the Ultra Beasts are supposedly not Pokemon and are wrapped in mystery so I can wrong. Still, there's supposedly a ton of content in the game, so I'm anxious to see how much this takes the formula and flips it on its head.
And thanks, Bowser! I'm really glad to hear that the composition is working so well, because looking at some of my previous work with multiple characters, I would always lament on how they would sometimes come across as a bit flat to me. Glad to see this read so well.

This game just keeps getting weirder and weirder. I can't keep up with all the new guardians and deities of the region, and there's so much that leaves more questions than answers. This is in no way shape or form your typical Pokémon game, and the way it's shaping up is really crazy but I'm liking the little surprises they're tossing in the trailers so far. The newest one especially caught me off guard, but I enjoyed seeing some unexpected familiar faces show up...and I guess there will be a league after all...maybe?
Nah, you were delving into adding more dimensions to your subjects quite awhile ago especially when you first started with digital painting more than your old-school watercolors we first knew you for. I would never have guessed that you'd make the switch but it's been a real treat seeing what you can do with just about anything these days. Absolutely my pleasure, YU!
