Description **FULL VIEW PLEASE!

Jecht with Sin parts in ghost Zanarkand...Keep in mind I had very little reference for Sin (I was lazy) so parts may not be accurate for you purists out there.

This was done from a doodle I really wasn't suppose to be doing during meditation camp. The entire thing is digital (save for the blue line doodle as the under drawing I scanned in). The brush effect came from the Sumi-e brush in Corel Painter.

Looks like you did this Okami style.
I like it.

It reminds me of Gaara o__o
from Naruto.
Do you know?

Yes, I didn't think of Gaara when I was doing this (not much of a Naruto fan on my part) but I guess Sin's arm and Gaara's arm do lookalike in this one.

Okami's the only real place we see ink and wash type artwork in the western world really, that and naruto... in naruto this character called sai paints in ink and wash style

its a gorgeouse style though i really like it alot.

wow, really nice pece. the lines are amazing. I could trulyappreciate an artist who is able to capture line in its purest form. meaning using line as more theen just a medium to show an image, ut rather participate in the aesthetic of the piece. the lines are wonderful, showing movement and mood to the piece... I can't believe you did this in painter.... keep up the good work.

Once again, you've done Jecht the greatest justice! The style and fluidity of this piece is fantastic and I love the way you've made use of perspective to enhance the feel of action.

One of the most interesting takes on Jecht and sin I've encountered yet!

I really love it when you work with such loose, bold line art. It really seems energetic and dynamic. (Not that I don't love everything you do. It's just refreshing to see something different, I guess)

I've always like Japanese sumi-e art. It's just a pain to do non-digitally since you don't have the 'magical' undo button. Thanks, glad you like it.

I love the style, it works well with Sin-Jecht XD. I also like the grey accents over the black and white. VERY AWESOME.

YoshiyukiKatana In reply to Kuenai [2007-12-30 09:21:19 +0000 UTC]

Thanks! I have to admit that I had the hardest time trying to get the grey right since I was actually overdoing it till the image got really muddled.

Cool scroll brush art effect. It kind of seems like a slight influence from Yasmin.

Yeah, Yasemin's art did have an influence on me since she does a lot line art nowadays digitally.

Thanks, you should try it. I'm getting more comfortable with doing line art digitally now. Though still, nothing beats traditional.

You might like the Chan style, they emphasize energetic strokes that convey movement.

I see what you're getting at here. It's definately more energtic than other schools of oriental brush painting. Thanks a lot or the link. I'll definately look more into Zen Buddhism art.

Looks like art from Okami....love that game. And don't worry bout me criticzing detail. XD I don't even know who he is. I'm guessing he's from Final Fantasy since the whole Zanarkand. Oh I forgot. It looks pretty spiffy to me.

YoshiyukiKatana In reply to Jonpa [2007-12-27 03:43:12 +0000 UTC]

Thanks. You're right about the Okami element of this. As I was doing this I thought, "Hmmm...this looks very familiar..." I have yet to play the game (I no longer have my PS2, my bro has it) but I've heard nothing but good reviews about it.

This had to be fun. Good foreshortening on the foot there, and good loose brush work. I thought it was ink wash before I enlarged it. Meditation camp? How was that? Sounds interesting.

Cheers :B

YoshiyukiKatana In reply to jasonbehnke [2007-12-27 03:38:22 +0000 UTC]

Oh this was fun all the way (save when I got to the background). The mediation camp I attended was for learning 'Insight Meditation' (it's a more religious form of meditation, not the stuff you see with models in tights sitting around looking happy with their eyes closed). You pretty much meditate from dawn till dusk for seven days. You speak to no one save the instructors. You make no contact with the outside world and you ate a strictly vegetarian diet.

All of this is suppose to be mind discipline, making you aware of everything that is going on it the present and making you concentrate on one task at a time. I didn't go there for the religious aspect, but mainly to learn how to stay on task. Most students who attend do a lot better in school than they had previously.
