This piece is actually quite old, but it is dear to me.
I have bits and pieces of the story, but am yet to seriously write it down.
One of the things on my ever growing "to do" list...

Thanks for your comment!

I happen to have played the song by that name some years ago while studying violin. I'm not sure if you know this already, but the name means "Gypsy Caravan" in German, or so my teacher told me. Particularly nice job on the violin.

Sarasate's Zigeunerweisen is one of my favorite violin pieces, with its smoldering longing and wanderlust.
I've always wanted to learn how to play the violin, but never had an opportunity to.
Do you still play it?

Yes, I do still play. I'll probably put up some photos on my stock account of me with my instrument at some point. I may also photograph some of my sheet music as textures some day. Once I got past basic exercises, I went on first to classical music, then to gypsy music. Now I play a lot of Irish fiddle music, but I'm slowly going back to the gypsy tunes.

I'm not sure if you've heard any of the following, but they're my favorite gypsy tunes, and I thought you might like them as well since you like Zigeunerweisen:

Monti's Csardas
Der Sohn Der Haide (Hungarian)
Dark Eyes (ΠžΡ‡ΠΈ Π§Π΅Ρ€Π½Ρ‹Π΅, Russian)
Two Guitars (Russian)
Romaninan Train Song
Bessarbian Girl
Brahms Hungarian Dances (any of them)
Hungarian Rhapsody

Thank you for the list!
I'll have to check them out.
I love the grace and the poise of the violin, both in the music and in the player.
There's something very human about it, I find.
Maybe that's why it's often referred to as "music closest to a human voice"...

Thanks again.

That is correct. The viola is said to be closer, by some because most men don't have nearly as high a voice as a violin. I think it would be fun to do a duet like a conversation between a violin as a woman and a viola as a man, but that's just me at 2 AM.

You weren't the phantom under my violin teacher's studio, were you? (sorry...I'm a Phantom of the Opera fan as well, the play and book, not the movie, and I can't resist the little jokes.)

the color is really good, and the pose is good as well.
But there's something with the guy in the left that's just wrong... maybe it's just my imagination...

Well, he is holding a noose.

But jokes aside, what could it be? Hmm.
After working on it for a while, it becomes harder to tell sometimes.

Maybe it'll come to me if I leave it for a while.

Thanks for the comment.
