At the end of the last challenge, Thea realized she would probably not come out of the trials alive. With this in mind, she managed to discover her powers, right after the finale of Trial 1/beginning of the interim. While it hits her hard at first, that one of her powers is literally to be forgotten, she's determined to make the most of it and be a total badass 👀

Ever since the end of the trial, something felt terribly off. In my head, in my heart. Unsure of where I should go, I walked away from the group, from the other cats. I had to process things that I had, until now, shoved aside. I had to do this on my own.

When the beast came crashing, its screeches echoing in the forest, that’s when I realized the truth: I would probably die in these trials. There are some things that you know, deep down, you have this feeling. This was one of these feelings: I just knew. I guess I was okay with that. At peace, maybe. Death is part of life. Dying probably wasn’t so terrible. I just hoped I’d die being useful. That I wouldn’t die alone. I hoped even more that I was wrong.
But right now, the feeling in my guts wasn’t about death. It was something else, something I couldn’t quite name. So I kept walking, head down, trying to figure it out. I walked and walked, hours, it seemed.
It’s only when I reached a small puddle that I understood. When I got down to lick the surface, I saw… nothing. I wasn’t there. When I squinted, I could see myself, slightly. Flickering, almost. My eyes opened wide when I understood the puddle wasn’t the problem. I was.I quickly looked down at my paws. My barely visible paws. I sighed.
Of course. I thought, it was the most obvious outcome to this. But even though it made sense, I closed my eyes, trying to ease the burning sensation of the tears rushing in. It makes sense. It makes sense, but it hurts.I took a big breath, chasing the tears away before they could come out.
Slowly, unwillingly, I reopened my eyes, and took a good look at myself. I could see the ground through my paws, the light through my pelt. Invisible. That’s what you are. I closed my eyes again, frowning.
My mom would have been a red soul. Fierce and passionate about her role, back home. She was a fighter, she always had that fire in her veins anyway, powers or not. My dad would have been a green soul, obviously. A healer with healing powers, that’s logical. Even though he can be distant, he’s dedicated to his patients. It would make perfect sense.
Altair… purple powers suited him so well, this clever boy. I was sure he would do great things with them.
Me? It seemed so obvious now, so fitting that’d be the one to fade. As if it was written in the stars, from the very beginning. Being forgotten, literally unseen, it seemed like the role that was determined for me to play ever since I was born.
It wasn’t a role I liked, but I couldn’t avoid it any longer, could I? It was part of me now. Might as well make something good out of it. I opened my eyes again, head high. If this was meant to be a weakness, fate would have to try harder to stop me. I’d use it, use it as a weapon if I had to, to survive. I’d use it as much as I could, use it until I was the best at it.
I scanned the darkness in front of me. Claws unsheathed, concentrating on the shadows on the ground, I tried something. A small grin slowly appeared on my lips when the shadows, spreading at first, detached themselves from what casted it, sliding under my paws to my command.
Maybe with this, these new powers… maybe death could be evitable. Fooling fate, what a cool sounding game.
