I dawned on me while about halfway in through these sketches that most of the jokes involve NiGHTS in some sort of pain.
And then I began to cackle maniacally.

If you don't get the sketch, just follow the numbers and I'll explain them to you one by one.

1) These three were drawn in class, upon which it suddenly dawned on me that it was, in fact, possible to draw this character.
Aaaaand in he bottom corner, the jokes began to emerge. You spend much of the game gathering points by flying through rings. Whoops, looks like he was flying a little too low there...

2) NiGHTS himself spends much of his time being kidnapped by nightmare creatures mounted on what appear to be peacock/pokemon hybrids. He gets caught... what, five times? After a while the other characters are bound to stop
caring.

3) Gotta keep your head above water! Not having a neck has its advantages, I suppose. This joke was brought to you by

4) I am very well acquainted with that invisoceiling. I spent at least the first fifteen minutes of gameplay with my face planted on it.

5) That's the thing about giving such large eyes to a character with a perfectly round head. It looks fine on paper, but when you put it together in 3-D, the eyeballs bulge out of the head and end up angling off in different directions.
It reminds me of a gecko, or perhaps a chameleon of some sort, and it drives me insane.

6) More no-neck jokes. I swear this is the last one.
The guy with the hammer is the man-eating rodeo clown in goth makeup, by the way.

7) I suspect that jester hat is apart of NiGHTS' actual head.
In that case, more owchies.

8) Kay, maybe #6 won't be the last no-neck joke.
In the first NiGHTS game, NiGHTS himself was depicted with a free-floating head that hovered over his body. I imagine the no-neck thing is still around, but back in the day it was more obvious because there was this GREAT BIG YAWNING ABYSS where his neck ought to be.
The kid is Elliot, by the way. Yeah, I think his hair looks funny too.

9) (Okay, now I'm really beating a dead horse. Is NiGHTS without a head really that funny?)
What a brat.
Sure looks happy, though.

10) Will's father and Helen's mother are such an important driving force in the game's story, and sure, in the opening cutscenes they seem really tragic, but in the ending cutscenes they have all the emotional depth of a day-old cupcake.

11) Some deviantartists depict NiGHTS with long flowing locks of hair under that hat. I politely disagree.

I have nothing else to say except that pens make everything better.
