I live in a torrent of glittering dreams
Trying to swim with the current
Though fear drags me down
Letting wonders pass me by
I struggle and thrash to keep them in view
Scavenging luminous fragments
While the wholes always outdistance me
And I'm left with torn edges
I have the words but not the will
The soul but not the strength
Hopes without faith
Needs without drive
I'd give up and drown
But the water won't stay in my lungs
Even if it burns all the same
Still, somehow, I don't.

Truth.
I fell into a bit of a woe-is-me funk, a little dissatisfied with myself...I feel better today, tho. Sleep helps, and reading current events articles for perspective.

I find sleep levels are the biggest single predictor of how productive I will be. (Followed closely by whether or not I'm currently obsessed with some game or other.)

You know, I think the six-fingered man featured prominently in my first adolescent peril fantasy. I even half-remember writing Princess Bride fan-fic and then immediately deleting it in shame and confusion.

I'm sure there's more than a little Princess Bride fan-fic out there...
I ended up with one of the anniversary editions (my first copy wandered off), but never got around to reading that version. Fairly recently I read it to my daughter, and the new version has this extra bit at the end, the 'first chapter' of the 'sequel'. To be honest, it reads more like bad fan-fic than anything else.
William Goldman is very weird.

Some writers have a unique relationship to their work, I can relate. Though I'm ashamed to admit I've never read the book, only seen the film a thousand times or so.

Honestly... the film is *so* much better in many respects. But the book is worth reading once, I think.
