Very cool, nice dark and brooding. I guess that my only critiques is that his armor lacks much in the ways of depth as its almost all the same color. Its probably just the resolution of the picture, and on the whole he looks great. So good job on making a model I'd be proud to stomp into the ground.

And its been a while man, how've you been?

Well I've been good!

Later today I'm going to a Marine OCS recruiter and see if I stack up!

As for the critique well, I wanted to make the armor look like armor and not the fiber-glass body of a sports car.

Ok,thought i'd post up one comment on one picture, rather than have stuff all over the place!
Things i think you've done well on,you've picked out the details pretty good, and at this scale, thats always a good thing! So kudos for that. I think the marble effect you've gone for on the Crozius is a nice example.
I also like some of the additions, notably the book and the sword...
Crunch time though...i think possibly you've added too many bits,or if not that, not in what i'd regard as 'better' places...litanies on the sword blade for example...? I think that turns the sword into more of a 'ointy stabby' weapon (and you're blood staining emphasises this) and well,i dont think a Chaplain in the heat of battle is gonna go for 'ointy stabby'...its a bit too precise.A few litanies at the handle end would have been my choice. About the sword itself,i recognize it as a Space Wolf one...the handle works nicely, but theres still the wolf skull at the hilt end...its a tiny detail admittedly, but in the past,i've used this sword, and trimmed the nose down into a more human shape...you dont have to add the teeth at this scale really,so it's literally a case of a sharp blade and a little plastic removal. It's a pretty anal detail i know, but if you start to consider models for serious competitions (Golden Demon for example) its things like that might detract a little....which would be a shame!
The other bits i think could perhaps have gone elsewhere,i think you've added the scroll casings to the back of the book? Again, the idea is ok,but they help make him look a little top heavy...however,some scroll casings about his waist would have helped 'balance' him out.
All of the above is of course my views on building models, and you should in no way think im attacking your work harshly,if you like this guy (and you should) then great! It says "Advanced Critique Encouraged" so...thats what you're getting
The other thing i'd ask about is his black armour...were you after a certain effect with it?
Ben

Also the sword is more for stabbing anyway when he's got a Crozious for hacking and smashing in the other hand. Like Chaplain Xavier from the Salamanders w/ his crozious and hammer!

And they're both power weapons so if armor can't protect somebody from these than flesh is no obstacle.

Awesome, thank you!

The sword is a Space Wolves sword yes, but the reason I used it is because I'm trying to make a back story for him and the sword is one of the minor details that tell that story. I have laid anything concrete into the back story but I'm working on it.

Plus the litanies are on the sword blade because I remember a picture in one of the older Dark Angels codex where is a space marine w/ litanies on a 2 handed sword so thats WHERE it was inspired from.

The books on his backpack yes they do make him top heavy but he is a member of the Word Bearers and they're all about books and what not. So again I felt that it adds to his character if for no practical reason.

Ok,so he's very much built from the fluff up lol Thats fair enough,i didnt know that...
I was merely looking at it from a modeller's well, mine!)point of view. The bits i mentioned are still the bits i'd change lol BUT,as i said,it is yourself you have to ultimately please, and it seems you have done so...so...good stuff Bottom line, you gotta have fun!
Word Bearers eh...Pre Heresy im guessing then!

No problem I didn't say anything ahead of time!

Post-heresy again I can't give any real story meat as of yet!
