Well, I always thought it would've made a cool story that they could've done in flashback on the original show, to depict Luna & Celestia when they were little & before they took on all their adult duties & responsibilities & all.  You know, just 2 young sisters playing innocently together, wondering what their future destinies would be like, each discovering their own unique strengths & talents, etc.  Yeah, I think there's a great deal of potential there.
