Description
EDIT: Has been redone :thumb340903471:Well, as most of you know I use mostly MS Paint. And I needed some GIMP practice. So I drew the lines on MS Paint, pasted it to GIMP. I wanted to draw my favorite couple, Feathertail X Crowfeather. But if I drew Graystripe X Silverstream I could practice my water and grass. So I went with Graystripe X Silverstream. It could be a lot better but I'm happy with how it came out for the most part.

Why hello there, this is my first critique. First of let me say well done, it looks adorable and sad at the same time. Second, Shading is a LOT more easy than how XxFlipxX described it to be. Just select a dark-ish color(like dark dark dark blue etc.) and color it accordingly to where you want your shading to be then lower the opacity to what looks right. If you want Silverstream to look more ghost like lower the opacity of the layer, create a new one and then use a white or a light color go over her and around her, blur the edges(not smudge, smudge looks clumsy and messy) and lower the opacity again and it'll look fine. e.deviantart.net/emoticons/s/s… " width="15" height="15" alt="

The grass looks good except you might want to add more color variation to it but it's not neccasary. As for the river/water, instead of making small lines and smudging it you can get lighter colors and make wavy lines in the water then blur it or smudge with a large brush and get darker colors to give the water more life and realism. e.deviantart.net/emoticons/s/s… " width="15" height="15" alt="

You have a fairly good grasp on anatomy and your style is cute. e.deviantart.net/emoticons/s/s… " width="15" height="15" alt="

This looks so good! and this is my favorite warriors couple.
Anyways, I'll start with what I like first! So I think your anatomy is perfect, and perspective too, especially on Greystripe. I love the way you do eyes, also, and I love your ghost effect on Silverstream! I think giving her vague lines really made her look great.
Now some little improvements. So, since you are in GIMP, you can play around with opacity. Since spirits generally aren't solid, you can fade Silverstream's layer a little bit, so it looks a bit more ghost-y. Also, you can utilize opacity on the water, and give it a little more depth. Also, one last thing for the river, is you might want to add a bank next time, ya know, a little dirt ridge so it isn't just grass-to-water, like this: [link]
Just a little food for thought! But overall, I really like this piece, you did a great job! And remember; art's secret, practice, practice, practice! And one day you could be the best!!
Note me with anything else (:

Okay so I just thought I would critique this to help you with your GIMP skills. This critique will have nothing to do with your drawing skills, just colour and effects that you can do with GIMP.
First of all, if you want to make Silverstream look more ghost-ish, switch the opacity on her layer down to about 60 and she'll turn half transparent. The grass has nice texture, though you could maybe use the blur in between the two colours and if you want really good detail in it, you can use small strokes in several colours for each blade of grass. For the water you could make it smooth where you smudged and blur the light blue lines in the water. Overall good job seeing how you normally use MS paint!
Also, GIMP works really well for shading and it's quite easy. Just choose a darker colour and blur.

Excuse me, but I know that you heavily referenced of a video on YouTube, both with the designs, style, background and position.
You should give credit.
