Io l'ho un po' rispolverato proprio grazie ad Hetalia e mi sono sempre chiesta perchè in giro ci fossero così poche rappresentazioni della nostra storia così com'è stata davvero. E' stato un periodo così sofferto e il nostro povero Paese ne ha passate di tutti i colori!

No, I don't speak Italian. My school only teaches Spanish and French. I am taking Spanish right now. So after I graduate from that I will start to learn Italian since they are kind of alike.

This is sad... but so true!
I can see it in Italy's face (north) he doesn't want to fight. particularly not Austria. But he is torn. There is something in his eyes saying he must, and not only for his brother's sake.
Romano is trying so desperately to be indifferent to the whole thing. Spain separated him from his beloved fratallino. But he can only keep that act for so long... The man did raise him, and cared when nobody else did.
Austria looks devastated, drained and defeated. He has already lost one "son" (Holy Roman) and now he has to fight the other. He knows he messed up. He knows that he did alot wrong. But he won't raise a weapon to Italy.
Spain looks so confused. His face screams confusion and a desperateness to understand just what Romano is doing.

True but so different from the real history...
North (Venice in particular) was the last part to be liberated from Austria, who has fought to keep it.
South was not at all united in the North, even hated the new government. Some regretted the Spaniards. A chaos, in short.
Hetalia is more "romantic"...

In effetti, considerando che l'Italia dovrebbe essere il protagonista, la sua storia è davvero poco approfondita. Ma forse è meglio così piuttosto che vederne una satira mal fatta che finirebbe per irritare e nient'altro. Lasciamo l'ironia dove deve stare e sentiamoci orgogliosi della nostra storia per quello che è. ^^
