Edit: Okay never mind the rant. I'm ranting about the hair when I'm also wrong. Ha-ha. link to changes in Jem's hairdo blah blah.*I do appreciate the comments about the hairdos(and thank you!
), and I am not trying to be rude. I just hate myself for not consulting the book before drawing them, then saying that "others should draw his hair blah blah this way blah blah" like I am pretty goddamn sure that I'm perfectly right when I'm actually not. (I actually took this seriously 'cause I'm having problems with their hair ever since I started drawing them, starting from Will.)* Yeah, I think I'm drunk. Wait, what am I saying? Shit, another rant. Oh God. *facepalm*

(As to why Will is in the front... well he's my favorite character.) 
Q: I always ask myself, why give Jem that kind of hair? And why am I having difficulties with hair?
A: Well, he's living in the Victorian Era, and most men have clean and short hairstyles. Will is an exception though, but Will's hair is short like Jem's. It's hard to pull off the "the hair that falls into his eyes" description though. But of course, if TID is set on the 21st century, I wouldn't mind giving Jem the "stylish Korean/Chinese/Japanese bangs" and Will the "messy modern hair", if it's in the description.
Another thing that annoyed me most is Tessa's hair. Others draw her hair loose. Victorian women always fix their hair (exception when sleeping of course!), whether they're going out or not, even if it's a simple bun or elegant curls. Like when they wear their exquisite gowns everyday, going out or not.
Okay! Rant finished. I really want to post this rant online, so I thought, why not here?

Lol, at first I thought the cover of CA was Nate, but then I learned it was Will. I don't know, he didn't feel like a Will to me.
I actually hated what they did with Jem in Clockwork Prince.. I always thought of Jem as gentle and a perfect gentleman, and I felt that the cover didn't do that justice.

Jem is a representation of a proper Victorian Gentleman. He follows the social etiquette to the best of his ability and that goes for style. However I do recall Clare stating Jem's hair texture being soft like "pinfeathers."

And I the reason most people draw Tessa with her hair loose, not that they're aware probably, is because she's of the middle class and young enough to get away with it (not to mention...American *gasp*). Most women her age or a little older, still middle-class, would put their hair in a simple bun and of course, once marry, they have no choice BUT to keep it up as a sign that they're grown and mature (and it'd be scandalous otherwise).

I do agree with you. Well, usually Tessa's hair was fixed by Sophie [lady's maid] and help her dress too. If not in a bun, it should still be *fixed* not messy [oh please, the CLOCKWORK ANGEL MANGA -_- When reading the manga, I was always furious with their hair and clothes. SO not accurate. I was like, "Duh, what's with Jem's white coat and pants? Shadowhunters don't wear white unless they're mourning." But he's so hot OMG. And Will. :"> *dies* ]

Lol! I read the manga too and I was kind of shocked by the massive volume of her hair. And your right, she did have Sophie fix her hair cuz since she's hanging out with people of "Class" she's gotta look decent.
And Jem's clothes, lol. I dunno I just thought it fit him despite them only wearing it for mourning (maybe the artist missed that tidbit

Yeah! It looked good with Jem! It's just a while ago when I noticed the white clothes. It suited him perfectly I never noticed the color.
