Final poetry piece! This is art for "Aladdin" by James Russell Lowell.
When I was a beggarly boy,
And lived in a cellar damp,
I had not a friend nor a toy,
But I had Aladdin’s Lamp;
When I could not sleep for the cold,
I had fire enough in my brain,
And builded, with roofs of gold,
My beautiful castles in Spain!

Since then I have toiled day and night,
I have money and power good store,
But I’d give all my lamps of silver bright
For the one that is mine no more;
Take, Fortune, whatever you choose —
You gave, and may snatch again;
I have nothing ‘twould pain me to lose,
For I own no more castles in Spain.

Took me quite a while, but finally finished this piece. This is way back from that stream I did in February (thanks for coming to that, by the way!). I couldn't work on it for approximately 2 weeks due to tests and homework (excuses, I know)

I thought this poem pointed out that the imagination we had as kids will always be remembered, even as we lose it with real world stuff. So I had the boy look straight towards his "castles," and his manself looking back, with his shadow stretching from the light of his boyhood imagination. What is he thinking about, I wonder, when he looks back? The scale of imagination or just the existence of it? Can he still feel the feelings he had as a boy? Who knows.

Whew but I'm so glad that I exported before saving since Manga Studio crashed while I was trying to save...wiped pretty much my last hour of fixes and stuff. I don't feel like recovering them all, so the MangaStudio file will now be an hour behind lol. I'll see if I can't make this png file into a jpeg or so to post on tumblr, twitter, etc

I also learned a lot of stuff about three point perspective, like the fact that it looks weirder the farther you go away from the center line of that top/bottom third point. And that you should save often ;D And that cobblestones are a pain to draw.

Japanese style castles and Chinese style gates also found their way to the background.

I'm going to take a break from really big MangaStudio files for now, so that I can draw some simpler things haha
