I feel you did this manga justice with this piece, feel it captures it well, very cute. I agree with you on Morinaga there. Did you know that girl friends is said loosely to be based on her schooldays?
It seems that you enjoy yuri/lgbt manga, might be worth checking out stuff by Yamaji Ebine, Shimura Takako, if your looking for something aimed at the specifically adult crowd it cautiously recommend shoujo-sect . Double house, Maria-sama and Pieta were also quite good.
Try sasameki koto also or yuru yuri.
