Fantastic. Makes me think that Douglas Adams must have been inspired by this sort of shot when he was writing his book, he makes the mice the most intelligent species on the earth

Shows how little I know about animals... he looks distinctly mouse-like here, although a lot more ferret-like in other shots
Inspiring shot at any rate, whatever the animal!

I agree with you ... to death !

musickscapes In reply to Yukkabelle [2009-02-18 21:08:37 +0000 UTC]

you've given me inspiration to try to photograph my babies. One is half bald, but her face is so sweet, one has a bald tail, but the fur is growing back, she is a spitfire of a ferret. Smarter than the average 'dog', she's my little Frida Freakazoid Poindexture Stripers and her name is smaller than her personality!!

I have two slivers and one sable. I love them I love their smell (which just appauls most people, but have you smelled their dogs! or cat litter?) Ours have free roam of the house and sleep with us on cold winter nights.

They are just one of the best pets I could imagine having. I had no luck with dogs..bad luck with cats.. perhaps all along I was a ferret person...

We are about to add a forth to the brood, a friend of my daughter's has to give her beloved Max up, so that will give us two gals, two big broozing boys...what a housefull...

Anyway, nice to come across another ferret loving person... and to get some inspiration for photography!

I love their smell too. Saddly since my 2 boys are adrenal, I have noticed their smell has changed, Less smell. Nahum's smell always remind me about Popcorn or grilled shrimps and also oriental parfum Their tails smell so good Did you try it ?
Congrats to your new addy. I hope they will be all friends together. I am glad that I give to you the inspiration to capture your lil friends. And I can't wait to see their new portraits But how about to take them as models also in your paints or draws too ?
Happy to meet you too Ferrets are Love and only Love, just Love

oh so true.. when our little silver passed last year, not only did her smell change, I'll never forget it, the smell of death, but she changed and became very very clingy so i held her for four days until she finally passed on my chest with me holding her. she has her own garden area in the yard and her amyrilis taht i planted over her grave is coming up twice as big this year, can't wait to see the blooms.

Ya, never thought I'd turn into a ferret fan.. but the smell, their antics, their personality..all of it. Hey, there is a new fabric softener commercial that has a cat, a dog, and a FERRET! So glad to finally see them being treated as the 'other' domesticated animal that they are.

Did you know they were domesticated before the cat or dog? They were huge in Egypt. Highly regarded.. GOOD to meet another ferret fan..

Took some pics, but didn't turn out..so will keep on trying. They must get used to the camera and it is still too shiney and fun to play with..plus my little girl is half bald...LOL

not tried sniffing the tale but will ...

take care

Yes they are domesticated for long long time and are used in Europe for work in the country side for hunting
