This actually would have been a great trick by Bill! A horrible realization after you reach out for help, but then it's too late. The deal's made. Incredible work!

Despair is doing everything you can, everything you are able to do, and watching the world burn regardless. Despair is knowing you did all you can do, that you got help, but everything you worked for is going to crash, and burn. More specifically. . . Your family is hurt, or dying, and despite doing everything right, they might not make it anyway.
Iβd fear the darkness more than the fall; the unknown more than the isosceles monster floating above me. For in the growing shadows my mind will conjure terrors a thousand times more deadly and frightening than what I am about to leave behind. As for the landing, well, so long as I land feet-first, Iβll only lose my legs. No big deal.

I can't quite verbalize why this is as spooky cool as it is to me; I like that feeling of Ford's desperation, that whatever he's falling down into, reaching out for Bill's hand, as evil and destructive as he knows Bill is, is somehow preferable to whatever's waiting for him at the bottom of the fall.Β Amazing work, it's not easy to depict this kind of desperation in any form of creative media, but you make it look effortless.Β The piece is very unsettling and slightly disturbing, but only in the coolest/bestest of ways, of course.
As ever, very nice work, Friend, can't wait to see more from you.
