While at work, I started thinking of ideas for the world post 'Upon a Star', and thought back to some role-play bits I had with xsargentwardx. One of the things that surprised me when we role-played was how he seemed to like horses more than wolves, saying that anthro-wolves 'would make for a better read than anthro-horses'.

However, this character came out of the blue. I had envisioned a scene where Alex - Karyana's youngest child and lone son - ended up relaxing either under a tree or in the grass, his head on what he thought was his backpack... only to hear her voice.

Given that the new enemy of the series will be a group of non-magic extremists called 'The Order of Man' (might need to change it a bit), I came up with the idea that she was a shapeshifter, but when the Order tried to capture her, she shape-shifted into this form to escape. Only, the magic-dampening devices they used would have locked her in that state.

The 'outfit' she wears is actually a weighted vest forced onto her, locked by the hexagonal clasp on her collarbone. Every piece of 'gear' on her body was placed on her by the Order, making her unable to remove them.

Personality-wise, I figured she would have a rebellious streak, but would take a liking to Alex, stating how he has 'soft hands', compared to the rough, stronger ones of the Order's warriors.
