To be perfectly honest, I actually kinda prefer the 2012 version. In addition to having a richer background, the way it blends also gives it a more traditional vibe. Of course, the 2017 version is nice too. I just happen to find the style of the 2012 one more impressionable. But that might just be me.

2012 has a more painterly look and brighter colors, with a little more added into the background to make it more Christmas related. Without Link's face, it would probably be pretty decent on its own, but it was during the time where I was still trying to figure out digital painting. I could have made this one in a painting style, but I decided against it.
Also if I remember correctly, the 2012 lines were drawn on paper and then painted over digitally so it could be lineless, while the 2017 one is all digital and with lines.
