While many of us enjoy the luxury of watching TV on our couch with a cold can of soda or beer, the ice caps are melting at an alarming rate. Polar bears that need the ice to hunt and survive are drowning or starving; sometimes forced to search through dumpsters to survive. www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news…

Global warming is undeniably here. 2000-present date was the warmest decade on record worldwide www.epa.gov/climatechange/indi… . This is not part of the natural climate change but a human induced and an abnormally accelerated increase in temperature. Waiting for the countdown until all the ice caps and glacier have melted and water level has risen is not an option.

Many of us think that helping to prevent global warming is just about driving a hybrid car, or getting solar panels, which most people can't afford, so why bother?

While fossil fuel burning cars are a huge source of green house gasses, many other things also add up to create the problem. The manufacturing of anything takes up energy, which is usually created by burning fossil fuel like gas and coal. Relying on oil also lets big oil companies like BP and ExxonMobile get away with oil spills time and time again (with the most recent large spill in Yellowstone national park billingsgazette.com/news/local… ) With that in mind, I'm not saying we should give up everything we own and live in the wild, but any amount of reduce, reuse, and recycle will lessen the amount of new products that needs manufacturing. And that's something we can all do.

Taking public transportation, carpooling, or riding a bike are a cost efficient and healthy way to save energy and money. Even eating less meat (especially cows and pigs), can greatly help because it takes more energy to raise a cow than some crops of the same nutritional value. Cows are also a huge source of methane, which is another type of greenhouse gases that's responsible for global warming.

There are many other small things that we can all do help the environment like turning off the lights when we're not in the room, or not using the AC or heater if we could just take off or put on a jacket instead.

Change is not waiting for the scientists and government to come up with the solution, change starts with the little things we can do everyday.

It has come to my attention that my work closely resembles this one pepey.deviantart.com/art/globa… which was made 2 years before mine. I have never seen this until after I posted my drawing, and people started telling me about the similarities between the two. I did not copy the idea and the similarities are purely coincidental. Congrats to pepey who came up with it first, but please do not assume that I plagiarized.

I get what you're saying, but seeing that at one time we had gigantic dinosaurs stinking up the air with their own methane, and then it was fine, I don't think cows are a big enough source of greenhouse gas to worry about. We need to worry about our reliance on fossil fuels and maybe vehicles.

Despite that this picture was not your idea alone I like it.

Ice bears actually don't really die because the Ice caps are melting but rather because men hunt them... And global warming has a lot to do with the solar activity, but we don't have to make it worse with our behavior

In fact there is a natural global warming not caused by humans but caused by the fluctuation of the earths axis. Earth is constantly changing warm eras and cold eras every 100 000 years. We are currently in a warm era with a natural global warming but humans make it worse which is sure bad for the environment. So global warming cannot die and we can't prevent earth from a natural global warming.

Paroxysium In reply to DexDacozed [2015-03-05 14:31:28 +0000 UTC]

Hm?  Do you disagree with my sentence?  ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

To make my opinion clear, the earth can warm, or cool, but it isn't a big deal as the alarmists make it to be.
Even with human interference, do you really think we are powerful enough to change the world?

Most of these kinds of 'scientists' just BS, they say humans are evil and need to masturbate their ego to seem as if they are "saving the world."
And what's worse is that they are hypocrites to their own beliefs.  Electric cars?  Electricity mostly comes from coal burning.  Those really awesome headphones this artist is making?  Yeah more energy to make them.  And the energy made to make this digital picture on the computer too.
If she really believed this... or anyone... they would just go off the grid.
But masturbating ego is easier so they don't.  Instead they puke BS everywhere and shove Al gore's hockey chart up everyone's butt to gain attention and be called a hero.

And apparently global warming is way more important than ISIS or Russia taking over Ukraine.  Apparently global warming is more important than... oh I don't know, a genocide?  Obviously polar bears are more important than children lives hahaha.

I bet she will never draw a picture for that kind of stuff though.  Too scary, too real.  Or maybe she will?
Sorry for the long-ness. I'm bored in class. xD  If you disagree prove me wrong.

I just see too many people saying "it's a myth!!!" with no actual evidence linked up with them. Also these people never seem to have had any education about global warming... but let's call it climate change.

There's only one person out of dozens who has made me doubt my believes about if climate change is man made or no.
However this person decided to ignore me after I presented him with a simple question, so I guess he didn't have all the answers after all. It was a long debate... thank God he was educated tho.

While it's true that alarmist make global warming seem too dramatic, I don't mind this since too many people in this world waste so much energy anyway. However if we are to believe the predictions given to us my thousands of atmospheric scientist and meteorologist, climate change will be worse than the things you just mentioned. It's not just because of the planet warming, oh no, climate change has a lot of indirect ways to kill humans. After a quick article I found this, for example.
www.euronews.com/2014/09/26/gl…

As for your "electric cars" thing, they still are more CO2 friendly than normal ones, especially when greenhouse gas friendly ways of producing energy is becoming for common, like nuclear energy.

Paroxysium In reply to DexDacozed [2015-04-14 01:27:48 +0000 UTC]

Ha ha yeah.  I guess they are just too lazy to find actual evidence.
I have... kind of.  One whole year of science was wasted on talking about global warming whoop dee doo. ( e _ e)

Ah?  What did they say about it?

I mean I never said it didn't exist.  I just hate it when they abuse it for politics.

But when you crash one of those things its creates an explosive electrified fiery ball of death... its worse than gas.  They are finding ways to make it safer, but I would rather drive with gas for now.

TBH weather(hehe weather) its real or not, I honestly don't care, and don't care to prove it.  We have bigger problems right now, and those are more clear than the theory of global warming.
If global warming is such a big deal, people should take action, not nag about it over and over.  If you think there is a major problem, fix it right now.  Humans have a tendency to wait until the problem is overwhelming, then they try to fix it.

I see you're saying that people are "wasting energy."  What do you mean by that?
Do you think dictating them on whether or not they are using energy the right way is really the right thing to do?
And even with all this evidence, it doesn't really matter in the end.  It matters whether they are going to keep blaming people or actually do something about it, good or bad.  Do you have a solution in your head?  Other than giving everyone an electric car of course. xD

I do agree with most of what you said here except that humans have had some sort of impact on the global temperature, while no one can say how large. And yes, sometimes polar bears are more important than humans. If you're talking about how we need to stop boosting our egos in thinking that we're saving the world, is it not egotistical to think that humans are more valuable than the child of any other animal? We too are animals and need not to believe that we are above the rest of the life forms on earth. Wars and genocide are highly important however, just like environmental conditions, so the solution is, show them both on the media. From what I can see in the United States, the majority of the media focuses on aimless entertainment and not real news or things that people should think about. Other than that, I totally agree with what you said about the hypocrisy of lots of people.

Paroxysium In reply to PatchworkLynx [2015-03-19 14:28:58 +0000 UTC]

 Yay.
Well yeah, but not to the point where we will burn in hell fire and drown in a sea of our faults.  If the Earth survived whatever killed the dinosaurs I'm pretty sure it can withstand our impact. ( e v e)
I think humans are better than animals.  Not in an egotistical sense, but in a sense of priority.  We cannot help endangered animals while our countries are being bombed and our economies are collapsing.  If you want to help something you have to help yourself first or else they will fall with you if your own problem overpowers you.  There are a lot of examples in history where great nations/leaders fall because they did not prioritize correctly.
But yeah on the rest I agree with yah.  To be honest I wish I could go into politics to help out this issue, but do you see how fast they get wrinkles? Lol. xD  I would rather just be a voice in this.  Talking about this is stressful enough anyways.

it's just natural changes, blah blah blah, scientists say, blah blah blah, you know what SCREW YOU!!

This is such a beautiful painting he masterfully depicts the wretched world we live in today, major companies at the end of the day only think of the profit and it does not cross their minds what kind of harm they are doing to the environment and the innocent creatures that call that place home and yet they dare to ask why are wild animals slowly closing in on the cities, what an ugly world we live in.
