Hopes and Dreams
Lift me up
The weight of Reality
Keeps me down
The Sacrifices
I’m willing to make
Of Myself, of Others
This Hubris
A Selfish plight
An Endless flight
And I will learn
What it takes to fly
A new interpretation of one of my old drawings of the same title from 6 years ago.
I’ll also be at Kraken Con this Saturday 9/26/2015 in the dealers hall! This time Kraken Con is going be to hosted on a ship! I’m so excited to see everyone there!
In other news, check out my new website at YuumeiArt.com It’s still under construction with many pages missing, but it’s a start!

this is actually untrue, you wouldnt be able to fly like that, part of the reason is because the weight of the chains is bigger than what those crows can carry in flight, do a little more of research next time ok?

No shit she wouldn't.
The word "fly" in the title doesn't have to have literal meaning, the poem/song in the description pretty much explains it.
Maybe you should do some research about symbolism you stupid fuck?

Nanocarbon tubes? Something lighter? Hollow inside, very good endurance? If the girl would have 150 cm, weight 38 km - a common raven can lift a kilogram... Let's say there are about 30 ravens here. That means one raven would get, well, adding the chain, let's say 1,3kg. Also... isn't it a work of fantasy? Un...realistic? Why are we talking science here? It's about poetry, not down-to-earthish things.
Oh, and, by the way, she's not flying. The ravens pull, you can see how it damages her flesh, but she's not... flying.

first, km has nothing to do with weight, what you were trying to say was "kg"
second, if she weighted 38kg she would be dead
third, there are 21 ravens so you are wrong on that one too
forth, the title says "what it takes to fly, so if she is not really flying then i can add another sin to the collection
pls, a lil of research before saying things in the internet never harmed anyone

I had a weight of 38kg (yes, you're right, kg, not km - typing mistake) when I was 157cm. I was definitely not dead. Very skinny - yes. Not dead. Proof is typing.
Title, not tilte, right? If we're strict when it comes to typos...
Third, you don't use capital letters nor dots. But that's irrelevant.
Fourth, I believe you have not referred to the fact that it's all fictional?
I'm not opposed to doing research - but I believe you have much more work on all them fairies with wings that can, definitely, not make a person fly; all the little pony and lack of anatomy, big eyes of chibis... So many things that do not have anything to represent them in reality or blatantly break some or many of the laws of Physics that apply in this world... So many of them here on deviantArt...

first, you never weighted 38kg
second, english is not my language so being a lil open minded would be kind of you
third, you forgot to say "first" and "second"
fourth, i dont use capital letters nor dots, but as that is irreelevant it makes no sense for you to point that out
fifth, even fiction can have logic and reason and clearly this does not, thats why im pointing it`s mistakes
sixth, yes i do have a lot of work with those other nonsensical fictional shenanigans, my job is hard, even tho its irrelevant for you to point that out i thank you for noticing it
seventh, you didnt talk about the other points i made to refute yours, like the number of crows and such, so am i right? yes
pls, a lil of research before saying things in the internet never harmed anyone

First: I did. Do I have to ride to my hometown, get my doctor to show me my records, ask her to do a copy and send you that with a proof of some lawyer that it's not fake? I ended up in a hospital, too.
Second: Mine neither. Actually, third.
Third: If we're at checking things, there's no form like "weighted". It's "weighed". You can check that. Internet. A blessing.
Fourth: Going back to third - not everything is said. Not everything has to be said. If you are referring to something, you can do that by starting a new line. Pressing Enter. But I ought to have done that, which, I admit, is my mistake.
The rest: 23 ravens. There's a different number of chains and some wings cannot belong to the crows, some crows would have to have no chains, some two - so I assumed that not all crows are seen and not all chains are visible... Thus, 30 crows. I can say there's one crow, but the viewer is on drugs. Good point.
The rest vol. 2: What do you mean by "so if she is not really flying then i can add another sin to the collection"? It's written in the artist's comments, that "The weight of Reality/Keeps me down". She's not flying.
(Now you can point out that I can't count to six XD We are both doing a great job clashing here instead of doing something purposeful. ... When it comes to internet... I'm not really sure whether Wikipedia is the best source of any specific information. Neither the internet. It can be a channel to get to someone who has the information, the knowledge we want to possess or get a glimpse of... I didn't find the exact mass the crow can carry. Only that it weighs up to 2 kg - with which I would disagree, as I had a crow (corvus corax, to be exact) on my arm once and he seemed much heavier. I've seen one picking up a carcass of an European hare, which usually has from three to six kg - even assuming this one could've been skinnier, it had to be at least 2 kg. But I wrote that they can carry 1 kg - because it's better, when making an assumption, to allow some error margin.)

That was amazing. I was rooting for you throughout this entire argument. It was like, "OH BURN" throughout the entire thing. I have no life, but this filled me with hope. And also drained me of hope from the fact that we are discussing the science behind a beautiful art piece. I just felt I needed to comment on behalf of all the people reading this and thinking the exact same thing as me.

Thank you! XD I just thought I strongly disagree and it kind of morphed into a short argument exchange... Because to me there was nothing - even if science would be applied - wrong with the beautiful piece of art by yuumei. Apart from that - art should go beyond science, that's one of the reasons it exists. Many examples in literature are a proof that quite often the first step to discovering something is imagining it - then trying to prove it's right or wrong. Imagination, logical thinking, experiments, examples which outcome is the same in the same environment and any other factors that we have discovered are part of creation of the outcome, which proves the theory. But first step is imagination. That's why we have fairy tales. Fantasy stories. To form, to expand the imagination of a child, to make them see more, be aware of multiple possibilities, not only one way - which can be either white or black, right or wrong. That's not true. Same with science-fiction. We know too little to claim we know everything. As humanity, of course, because one single person's knowledge is not even the size of a needle in a haystack, enormous haystack, of all the information available to all people on Earth. In string theory there are more than 4 dimensions. Maybe there are different "lives" whose existence is based on levels of empathy in humans? They could live in a dimension parallel to ours, not perceivable to us. Who says not? Can they prove it's wrong? Or right? No. In a nutshell, fantasy can also be true. Somewhere. Laws of physics that apply to us may be not the same in a different universe. Scientifically speaking, we can't prove it wrong. So, scientifically speaking, we can't prove any art is "not scientifically correct", even if we would try to judge art in terms of science. Which shouldn't be done XD Sorry for the incredibly long message xD

I had someone draw this in my art class! I didn't realize it wasn't his original work till I was flipping through deviantart submissions. He didn't even give any recognition to you so I'm pretty upset about that. Your stuff is awesome though!

What it takes to fly?
a big Rising dream
or the Reality, what drags us down all the time.
But, without Dreams and Dopes, Happiness can't be found.
And then the Reality Can't Drag Us Down...........
yuumei thanks for your precious art and poem,.. it is really awesome and you know that very well.. keep smiling
