Description Based on my very first SLA character, and still probably my favourite, this depiction is the result of a long campaign over many months spanning several planets and several entire squads worth of team-mates. It is also one of the longest gestating pics I've had on the go... months have come and gone since I started this!

Avarice's story is almost entirely too long and too complicated to bore any non-SLA player on dA, but I'll keep it short: he was once a cocky, streetsmart Kickmurder Op Brainwaster.

Many things happened as he rose through the SCL ranks. Involved in missions to Cannibal Sector One, met a multitude of Manchines, became unwitting guardian of a brain-damaged Stormer Squad-mate, ended up on a War World for two weeks as a shared court sentence after said brain-damaged Stormer accidentally murdered someone in a bar, discovered and destroyed a Chien Bloodcult Nest, hooked up with a lovely Human lady named Sarah from Cloak Division, almost blew her up in a boobytrap, met his own doppelganger (in space), crashed a Prison Ship, unleashed a rival company AI and pet Virus into the ether, visited a realm between time and reality and faced The Flay, took a trip to White Earth, wore Stigmartyr gear and with the help of the last living vestige of Detrius Sada's goodness, eradicated the terrible rogue Necanthrope, ingested the corrupted souls of his dead Squad Mates trapped on White Earth, shot his girlfriend in the head using a bullet with her name on it to escape White Earth, and became a Necanthrope on the way back home.

Yeah. That is the short version.

Sarah was willed back to life in The White (sort of...) as a Gorecannon, a powerful psychic weapon. Conjoined with Avarice at the shoulder (his left arm in her, her right arm in him) and intertwined with Avarice's Deathsuit. However, because she still has a soul, Avarice doesn't have complete control over her, and she is capable of disconnecting from him at will. They feel a strong sense of diminishment when apart, and do not like to be far from each other.

Their shared knowledge and experience, not to mention the decision to help rebuild House Sada, has put Avarice and Sarah at SCL 2F, the highest achievable rank in SLA Industries.

tl;dr = MELODRAMA

See, it's this sort of thing that makes me so very, very happy to be at SCL 10, with potential like this stretching out ahead of me.  Thank the gods for those crazy scots.

You are a sucker for detail punishment! But well worth it! Great lineart I know you had trouble with this but this was'nt a piece that could have been done quickly or without the devotion you gave it! You did Avarice and Sarah proud!

Great picture and great backstory - pretty much SLA Industries in a nutshell: Dark, beautiful and disturbing.

Disturbing, i love it, no quams on love here. Spectacular. Its interesting to see how you make the Rest areas the focal points with the choice of detail placement to fortify these characters!

Thanks for the comment! To be honest, I'm still not happy with the pic, it's been a ball-ache for months, and I still have issues with the foreshortening on the guy's legs. I don't know whether or not to try to fix them in Photoshop or just suck it up and try and redraw them for the umpteenth time. Or just leave them the hell alone, heh.

Foreshortening is evil. haha... i always leave things till i feel all inspired to do them over again. So imo, just leave em be for now haha.
