Ok after 7 months self-taught, I retouch a bit my first digitalpainting to see the improvement. Cant believe that I have painted a lot of red head LoL.Related content

Dang.... I know you probably get asked this a lot, but how? How do you make all your art so clean and smooth? Did you take art classes to learn? How long do you spend on art every day? Sorry, I'm just intrigued.

I think its just a matter of time if you practise more, your skill will increase. For the 2nd question, I didnt take art classes, just self-taught from youtube and other artists

I just found your art and you are super inspiring to me. I was wondering if you might have some advice.
Recently I've started to apply myself in order to improve, about 1-3 hours a day. But it feels aimless. My goal is to create the worlds and characters I've had in my head for years, but I'm drawing a blank (heh) trying to figure out how to get there.
What do you think is the fastest way to improve, and what did you focus on to get to where you're at? Did you focus on things like shape, form, proportions, drawing hundreds of gestures, values, colors, etc? Or did you skip some of them and just go straight to the stuff that interested you the most?Β It's kind of hard to know what I should be doing right now when the obvious answer is everything.

hey thank you very much for your interest
- you need to have a goal, ask yourself if you want to be a successful artist and work fully as an artist in the future
- you need to sacrifice things: like video games (if you're game addict like me =]), love (for me this one is complicated, when i started doing this, i thing i might need some love to feel my art, but the more I paint, the more i think i wasnt grown up to fully love anybody yet)
- for the study part, I think the most important is fundament, as you said: shape, form, lightning, value, ect..., ive been practising with them a lot, you can combine them together like i did if you want, but it will be a mess for a while, just split them and do short study with each. Also, try to do some traditional stuffs, like watercolor, acrylic, pencil ...
- do something that you like the most and focus on it until you feel good about it
- stay away from your safety zone, I dont mean you have to do all stuffs but atleast give it a try
- some motivates will put you up, I used to watch Bobby Chiu video on youtube, or music ...
- last thing I think its very important is being slow and dont try to do master piece. I havent done any master piece yet, I just practise with small part, if I fail it today, I will do it better tomorrow. Dont rush, everyone has a starting point, I keep all my shitty pieces at the beginning to remind me and also motivate
