halfpaw and owlkit finally crossed the border back to streamclan territory, the black and white toms were in silence, after what they had both just been through they found they had nothing to talk about. but halfpaw turned to his friend and meowed "Why did you chase that crow anyway? you know you shouldn't have wondered off from bluestripe!" he snapped halting their walk. "You had me worried sick! i thought you were dead!" the tom yowled, but owlkit just shivered and looked at his white paws. "i'm sorry halfpaw... i didn't mean to worry you..." he muttered furling his tail over his paws as he sat down. "I was racing it, and.. and then the snow came.. and.. i got lost!" the kit looked up hopelessly at halfpaw. "I'm sorry!" the kits excuses were interrupted by a sharp clearing of the throat as a red furred warrior walked out from behind a nearby shrub. "Well halfpaw, i knew you disobeyed orders, but i didn't know you snook out in the middle of the night on suicide missions!" the warrior snarled thrashing his tail. going to grasp the kit by the scruff, he hissed through the black fur "Come, when we get back to camp i will discuss with pebblestar and darkfeather your punishment." with that the tom trotted off towards camp owlkit dangling from his jaws and halfpaw following in toe.

as soon as the trio reached camp there was a yowl from the entrance and a blue striped shecat came charging out of the bracken covered tunnel. "Give me my son now!" she yowled charging up to patcheye and taking the kit from his jaws "Oh thank starclan your safe owlkit!" she yowled over and over covering the kit in annoying constant licks. "Mooom..." he whined trying to bat her away, halfpaw was struggling to hold back his laughter and patcheye sat back an amused smirk on his face. "Come on lets go into camp, its freezing out here." the red warrior meowed ushering all of them inside. before he gave halfpaw a scowl flicking his tail towards the apprentice's den then making his way directly to pebblestar's den.
