I did this image in one night and quite honestly, it took more time to get photos of this thing than it did to make. I used Liquitex BASICS Acrylic color and canvas. The feeling i was going for in this image was remorse. I wanted it to feel as though the Hulk had hurt the person he's holding accidently. I'm not sure if i acheived this but, i really liked doing this image.Related content

Hulks head is a tad small for his body from the looks of things. Cool colors work really well with the warm background. Nice job, but work a little on the proportions a bit more.

have you seen the hulk? he's always had a small head. read some Ultimates... i got alot of the influence for him from there and some of jim lee's versions of the hulk as well...

I have to tell you that I love comics, and I've seen the photos of all the heroes. The DC Comics are the best. I'm an animation major for peats sake. Why would I not know what I'm talking about when it comes to comic-book/Tv heroes. Not to mention, Hulk is one of my all-time favorites. I can understand you disagreeing with me on something, but don't tell me I don't know what I'm talking about because I do. Even in comics they have to deal with the elements and principles of design, proportion being one of them. I was mainly saying what I said about his head being too small because even in the comics, Hulk has a bulky head. The thing that is more hidden and not smaller is supposed to be his neck because of the bulky muscles going into the neck. What happens is the person drawing the hulk made him sort of like a hunchback creature, where his shoulders are a tad further back than the head because all the muscles on him cause him to sort of walk in a slouching manner.

I love the Hulk's face...you can almost see him beginning to slide back into Banner, full of guilt and regret, and everything else...
Also, I love the size contrast you did here. The boy is so incredibly tiny in frail, that it just makes everything look all the more ridiculous and sad.

Looks like an awesome painting, but the flash used when you took the picture kind of ruins it for me. If you could use a tripod or something and make sure the flash is off it woulden't washout any of the color or give any of those white highlights to it, etc.

truth is, i did it without a flash! rediculous, huh? I kept the camera as stationary as possible but, in all honesty i simply could not light it for the life of me. all i wanted was a record of it's existance before i sold it. sorry about that! i think i know what to do for next time, though....

Hmmm thats crazy, did you use a lamp for the lighting? That would be the only other thing that would make sense for those highlights. Still an awesome painting though.

Very nice modeling on the hulk's muscles. I like how you've used subtlety in his facial expression of regret in this image rather than beat us over the head with it. "HULK SORRY, WAAAAH!"

I spent alot of time trying to make his face really subtle. i started it with him sobbing but, if he where to have those emotions, it would just be plain bruce banner (seeing as how anger is what incurs the rath of the Hulk) so i tried to convey a feeling somwhere in between sadness and remorse. thank you for noticing!

Would you like to know the horrible truth behind this image? Here it is : in one of the many comics I have (I think it was Ultimate Wolverine V.S Hulk), I read that Bruce Banner suffers terrible insomnia (which is a bit self inflicted) becuase sleeping reminds him too much of being "him"... He goes on to mention that he doesn't like waking up not knowing what happened while he was unable to control himself. That's where that feeling of remorse comes in. Now, as for the little guy in Hulk's hand and what I just said has to do with the image is this : I have had some shitty things happen becuase I was unable to control my drinking. I would often wake up with bruises and not remember what had ensued the night before. On one of these occasions, I happened to have hurt two friends, ruined what could have been a great relationship and kicked a stranger. All of which I have no recollection of but have complete remorse for. So, in all, the Hulk is my inability to control myself when under the influence and the little guy in the hand is the aftermath of my relationships... which are all pretty fucking dead now. It's alright though, the image has helped me kind of put those things on the back burner and concentrate on what's truly important... my art. Now you know the secret. Have I said too much?
