Description
BioShock fanarts! I just felt like drawing Andrew Ryan because he's coolHere we see Bill McDonagh - the general contractor of Rapture - showing his proposal for the city's central hub to Andrew Ryan.
I didn't use any references which is why a lot of the perspective is messed up and the lighting is wonky, but I'm too lazy to fix it.
Made with pastels

Ryan actually did show this off to Bill McDonagh in the BioShock: Rapture novel.

Great idea, and it looks amazing, especially given the use of pastels

How did you know that McDonagh proposed this? Wasn't he head of security?

That's Sullivan :]. McDonagh was made the general contractor of Rapture by Andrew Ryan. On top of that, we hear some accounts of his role in building the place in his diaries - the one titled "Eden Leaking" has the following quote from McDonagh: "I told Mr. Ryan when we were building this place that either you build her like a bath tub, or she's gonna turn into a sewer."
So yeah, this situation is just a fan-created situation on my part, but I think it's safe to say that McDonagh played a large part in getting Rapture up and running :].

Yeah know you say so I remember it
Just read an article. As many claimed Andrew Ryan has been resurrected by a Vita-Chamber, even more said he died. What do you think?

He actually turned off the vita-chamber in his office so that his death would have actual meaning - I don't think we'll be seeing more of him, and I might feel cheated if we do .
Unless there is actually a fantastic reason why he's back, but that will be really difficult .

I'm trying to find a savegame and replay that bit. Check every detail out twice.

We DO see him! In the flesh, even! Well, he's impaled on a wall and his flesh is kinda mutilated and burnt to a crisp, but....

Well yeah but that doesn't count! XD
BTW, any idea what that stain looking thing on his forehead is? In his audio log photo?

I avoid pastels like the plague(cause I'm terrible with them), so I applaud you for using this medium! It has kind of a flashback kind of feeling to me. Very nice work!

Very purdy, but Bill's lighting makes him look like... I dunno, a ghost or something.

I see a Chrysler-like building in there! Some art deco architecture at its finest. Andrew Ryan IS cool.
I like that the pastels give the piece a very soft feel to it. And the period details in Ryan's chair. 'Course, I am a huge art deco fan, so I get happy about that sorta stuff.

I actually don't know a lot about art deco stuff . All I know is that I love BioShock's art style, so I tried to do what I could despite not knowing much about the movement. You noticed the bit on the chair, and I tried to do a little with the wall in the background, too

Yeah, BioShock's totally art deco, which was very popular until about the 1940's I think. I think that because Andrew Ryan was such a big fan of it was why Rapture was built like that. It's all about very dynamic lines and bold use of shiny metal. And those little touches show in the picture.
