Description WELL.....that took a lot longer than expected!

"Tradition of hunting dragons" my BUTT! How on earth are you supposed to kill one of those things?

I'm hoping to make stuff more regularly, but with uni starting soon, my prospects of doing so are probably not going to be very high at all .

Hope you guys enjoy this! :]

Wahooooooooooooowwwwwwwwwwww.....

And that's why "Dragons" are so legendary.

What Sozin never officially declared was that the challenge of earning the title of "Dragon" was basically just a method of Fire Nation population control.

Anyhoo, thank you for the favourite!

Naw - it's just a scene I made up . Didn't take place in the show, although Ran and Shaw, the location (and the lighting), and the Sun Warrior Chieftan were all in The Firebending Masters.

Aaaaaaaw, thanks, Dingle!

Detail's easier to do when it's just linework as opposed to actually needing to colour stuff in! Grrr!

OH MY GOD
Where do I start with this?
This is AMAZING!

The way the dragons are posed and the angle that you used is just incredible. Not to mention the details. Ok you win the gold star.

z00tz00t In reply to Quadgurl [2009-02-13 08:37:16 +0000 UTC]

Ooooooh, I'm so happy that people seem impressed by the angle. At the time, I don't think it occured to me as being particularly inventive .

Thanks, Quad! :]

You have gained a new level, please spend your skill points at the character screen.

So i see you decided not to go with motion blur, like i said before, with this choice you get the nice detail and the other one you would've gotten something of a photoshop effect. However, i suppose in retrospect, you should probably be showing off your talent with drawing rather than photoshop effects.

As far as colours and stuff goes, you've picked much more "solid" colours in this picture than your other ones. I think the palette you chose is simply better, and it shows. The days you spent going back and adding contrast again and again gives it a lot of depth.

The touch of shadow here and there, little bit for the guy, and also the chips in the stairs shows the little details you put in, which is really what made you take longer "than expected".

I believe, if you're concerned people cant enjoy the whole thing, you can change what the download button does. At least i remember that being an option.

Yay! A proper comment from Ultrapunk!

I actually consider it more hardcore of an artist to use motion blur than to not use it. Truth be told, it strikes me as a little presumptuous to not use motion blur just to show off detail which isn't that fantastic in the first place, but ah well .

Contrast is definitely better than my usual stuff, but could still be improved. I'm hoping to do so with more time.

ultrapunk In reply to z00tz00t [2009-02-13 23:04:25 +0000 UTC]

Proper picture, proper comment

Well i mean, right now you're spending so much time trying to build this detail which you lose with the motion blur but ah well.

Contrast contrast contrast!

z00tz00t In reply to yasual [2009-02-13 08:27:49 +0000 UTC]

I'm glad that you like the dragons. As you probably noticed, they don't quite follow their appearance on the TV show itself, I basically combined the traits of the dragons as they appear in Avatar with the way dragons are drawn in various Hong Kong comics (they make Eastern-style dragons look really cool), threw in a few of my own interpretations for good measure, and this is the result .

Also, thank you for the favourite!

You are most welcome! Yeah, I noticed a little difference, but I love it. Quite impressive. How long did it take you? I think your description said it took you a long time, right?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

z00tz00t In reply to yasual [2009-02-14 08:22:28 +0000 UTC]

I worked on this on and off for a couple of weeks. Usually, I'm content to hit 'submit', but this time, I decided to wait for quite some time because usually, each time you wake up and see your work-in-progress with fresh eyes, you can always find something new to add/change.

Even now, there's still stuff I could have changed, but I decided that I've spent enough time on this and don't ever want to touch it again . I'm patient, but not THAT patient .

This is... absolutely incredible. The detail and color in this, and the fact that this actually looks like the scene in The Firebending Masters is so impressive. Really really great work, I love it! Fav'd. : )

z00tz00t In reply to ravenhpltc24 [2009-02-13 08:25:47 +0000 UTC]

Well, it wasn't too difficult to make it look like a scene from that episode, since I basically set the time of day at the same time, and had an idea of how the light from the sun was going to interact with the sea and the bridge, courtesy of that episode, but thanks!

I felt like drawing something without any of the gAang involved :].

Thanks for the fav, too. :]

Aaaw, Kay - you always know what to say to make a guy feel better about himself .

I'm just going to try and learn to accept compliments more because that's something I ought to be doing, so thank you!

Although truth is, picking the angle I did means that I don't really need to worry about perspective at all .
