Description You'd be smiling too, if you had a giant robot of awesome destruction!

As my inaugural scanned artwork (at least since I got to this funny country), I present to you: Ty Lee in a giant robot!

Alright, so from the moment I planned this, I had the idea of having Ty Lee's mech be the antithesis of Toph's- lighter, nimbler, and skinnier.

You guys might have noticed that I left quite a few of Ty Lee's 'things' in. Her ponytail has become a giant whip-like extension from the 'bot's back, with some kind of device at the end that aids in attacking the weak joints of enemy mechs. The ponytail also helps to balance the mech while it's doing fancy manuevers.

I also kept her collar and her upper garment thing, with the poofy armour on her upper arms being used to represent her wide sleeves. Note the wristbands, too . I figure since Ty Lee shows a fair amount of skin (mainly the midriff), I tried to make it look like that . I also did a giant robot version of her flower skirt thingy, and if you pay close attention to her feet, you'll notice I tried to make them look like her shoes .

What REALLY made me want to draw this was the thought of doing a mech with arms with multiple joints. It just seemed so Ty Lee considering how flexible she is (which reminds me- I should watch The Incredibles again).

Despite the fact that I put more time into this one than either of my past avatar-characters-in-giant-robots, I'm actually not too happy with the way this one turned out. I think it's partly because the worky bits didn't turn out as nicely as I had hoped, and I couldn't come up with anything particularly special to do with her fingers...

well i agree the designs not satisfing but its still good and desurves a remake fya blade fingers would have been a nice touch cause that does sorta suit her also a lankeor frame would be nice to also another thing get rid of that hood thing it drags down the entire design and ad on a head so you can keap the ponytail atuff basicly make it a bit more cat like cause thats what ty lees like a very affectionet cat

Have you ever played the first PS2 Avatar-game [link] ?
It features a genious mechanist named Lian. She used to build robots for Fire Nation - before she goes Azula and tries to rid the world of ALL benders.

Lol Looks like Lee's having a LITTLE too much fun in there

Azula: Ty Lee, get down from there!...Ty Lee? Lee-Lee? What are you doing? Wait, stop that! Don't come a step closer...I'll hurt you really bad! NOOOOOOO!!!! *Ish stepped on*

God, I have an overactive imagination

So THAT'S why she looks so happy up there!

'Lee-lee' is a nickname I've never heard of before for Ty Lee .

That's not a bad way to sum up Ty Lee, actually .

Thanks for looking!

Frikken awesome yet again, G!

This is probably the best drawing of complex machinery you've done yet. The joints and all are excellent - do you look at anything as a reference? The third arm with the aparent dental drills is disturbing, but the driver seems friendly enough. Seems like she hopped into some villain's droid body.

Yeah- Ty Lee seems like a nice enough girl .

I didn't use any references BUT I do read Transformers G1 comics, and so I've seen enough of the art to remember some of the ways they draw joints and stuff .

sweet. So that's a good comic? I'll look it up. Lately, I've been collecting Mouse Guard.

I highly recommend it.

She annihilated the enemy... then she just cartwheeled away...
I love it! Brilliant concept + excellent execution. I especially love what you did in making Ty-Lee's upper garment the hood of her robot.

I don't know if you're looking for suggestions at all, but just in case you are... how about a Zuko bot? Or a turtle-duck bot?

Hehe- thank you!

And don't worry- I"ll be getting around to other giant robots soon enough .

ROFL. Ty Lee always looks hilarious, even as Mecha-Lee. ^^ Brilliant. I love the braid. Looks like she can deliver some serious whipping with it! Hilarious!
Keep up the great work.

AHAHAHAHAHAHA....this is just insane. But hilarious.

Ty Lee in a giant robot....the TyBot....

Absurd, but very funny. Very clever work, too, a lot of thought and work put into this, I like work like that.

OMG! No way! Where do I start? This is just brilliant. As usual, I love your technique, but most importantly...your concepts rock! I love how you incorporated her long braid into a robotic extension of herself! What is that deadly weapon at the end of it?..oooo!

z00tz00t In reply to Ethereal-Glutton [2007-02-05 14:57:25 +0000 UTC]

I suspect it's sends out some electrical discharge or whatnot that mucks up the internal circuitry of other giant robots. I think she has mini-versions of these built into her robot's fingertips. Though I'm honestly not too sure myself!

I'm glad you like the long braid thingy...it was a real pain to draw!

Thanks for dropping by and commenting! ^_^

Do you watch Avatar? If not- you should, because then you'll see a lot more of her .

Personally, I'm rather fond of the way the feet turned out .
