Many a summer has passed, yet we still chase their backs.P.S. The figure on the far left is Summer Rose (Ruby's birth mother and Yang's step mother) and the figure next to her is Yang's birth mother (I had a 32x32 pixel image to go by so I guessed at her features.)

I believe Raven is confirmed not to be Yang's mother (might be mistaken). But the person next to Summer is Yang's mother.

The only confirmation we have on Raven is that her last name is Branwen (Making her related to Qrow Branwen). My guess is she's Qrow'sΒ sister and Yang's mother. Again, we'll have to wait.
Out of curiousity, since she's clearly not Raven, what reference did you use? You mentioned one in the description. If it's the one I think it is, you'll want to see this: Transient Princess . It's the picture Yang shows around in the Yellow Trailer. Sorry if I'm off, lol.

Heh, I'm just going off a hunch a lot of people make.
I remember one time, I saw an image of Yang showing the picture to Junior, and then it has a screencap of Raven on the bottom.
Raven and Rinoa have some similar hairstyles too...

It's not a literal situation, more like an abstract one. "Present" Ruby and Yang are comforting their past selves, staring with their younger selves at the backs of the mothers who left them. Summer Rose and Yang's mother are also walking towards Beacon Academy, allowing the piece to take a double meaning. 1. Ruby and Yang are looking for their mothers, 2. Ruby and Yang are following in their mothers' footsteps (in becoming huntresses).
